Biogen pays $900M to resolve whistleblower's kickbacks suit

Biogen pays $900M to resolve whistleblower's MS kickback suit as competition drags on sales

Biogen Quietly Resolves Whistleblower Case for $900M | BioSpace
"From January 1, 2009, through March 18, 2014, Biogen’s kickback schemes caused the submission of hundreds of millions of dollars in false reimbursement claims for Biogen’s MS Drugs to Government healthcare programs, including Medicare and Medicaid, in violation of the False Claims Act,” the lawsuit read. During this period, some 1,200 doctors were responsible for around 60% of multiple sclerosis prescriptions. Biogen, the filing alleged, targeted these highly influential prescribers in their scheme."

The complaint only claims kickbacks through March 2014. Hmmmmm. MS speaker programs really ramped up after that, especially in 2016-2017. Just wondering if the settlement covers a period past the complaint.

I believe the individual who initially filed a lawsuit, is sick as hell! The gentleman that you can find on LinkedIn, has worked in the industry for another seven years post this lawsuit. If it was so corrupt and so sick to him why in the heck did he stay in the industry. Completely bogus, complete money grab, makes me sick. I know the person to, one corrupt individual

I knew him to. Funny how he initiated all this after he didn’t get the job he felt entitled to. Which he didn’t deserve. Shame on Biogen for having no balls to go to trial. The U.S. Justice department decided not to prosecute after years of investigation. The plaintiff litigated on his own.

You didn’t know him and you don’t know Biogen. It’s rotten to its core. No
company settles out of court for $900m because of sour grapes from a former employee who felt they were entitled to a promotion. Troll somewhere else.

Wow, brilliant reply. You’re right no company would settle for that reason. How many juries do you think would side with Big Bad Pharma? That’s right, zero genius. The cut would have been much deeper than 900 million. Hence, settle minimize the bleeding. Troll wins.

You admitted the previous poster was right. So you don’t “win”, troll. Beat it.

Lol. Bichael Mawduniak (his name is plastered on cnbc but just in case I gave him an alias) is one of the biggest scum bags on planet earth. Laughing all the way to the bank. Jokes on humanity.
