111 cut yesterday from operations. 251 slated to be eliminated from the sales group in the form of reps. 54 more from sales force operations. Total of 305 from the sales group. This all will begin shortly as mapped out. Scary times.

That equates to about what is being discussed in home office. That would put the sales force with about a 35-40% reduction. Just where the internal folks have projected.

I am a former Covidien person and I must say these changes are long over due. So much over head and so many people especially in the home office who have cake jobs. Glad to know that things are changing for the better of the investment of the Covidien stock.

THIS IS VERY TRUE. I HEARD THE EXACT SAME THING FROM SOMEONE IN THE CORP OFFICE. SURGICAL HAS TO REDUCE COST BY 35-40% AND THE MAJORITY OF THAT WILL COME FROM SALES FORCE. NO ONE IS EXEMPT. THEY WANT US TO GET MORE LEAN LIKE SUPPLIES.

No the sales force is not being cut , that is another project probably next year it will be re allocated.

I am a recruiter with one of the largest healthcare recruiters. We have never seen the number of resumes received by any one company than by the Covidien sales force in the last 2 months. Looks to be massive layoffs and huge exodus before they happen.

I agree because they are overstaffed . They are correcting mistakes from the past leaders.

I heard the same thing yesterday. I'm a previous employee, and yes, they are incredibly over-staffed. Unfortunately, can't really say they have the right leadership in place, either. The whole company is a freaking mess... was glad to get out of there.

my information is we will start 2013 like we end 2012 however major changes will take place before the start of fiscal 2014. The question is who is in good shape and how fast will the layoffs / reorg start after October?

Hernia will be the first to be dismantled. There will be a major layoff here within two weeks. at least 1/2 of the hernia sales force is gone. All management and VPs will also be gone.
