Background check

there are very few pharma reps with excellent credit in 2013. The vast majority of all pharma reps have been laid off recently and have suffered severe financial stress. If they base their decision on credit score, they will show their hand in relation to their ability to empathize with other humans. Take the rejection as a favor and leave the turds in their ditches...

How about you tell us what you are worried about the company finding and we will tell you some feedback. Are you worried about credit, criminal, drugs, etc? Background checks are borough regardless of what some say on here.

Yea I graduated only highscool & do meth occasionally. Think they'll find out?

Huh! The "Vast Majority of reps have been laid off"? Your statement makes not sense whatsoever. There have been many, many layoffs, but there were 105,000 reps in 2005, according to fierce pharma, about 30% of these positions have been eliminated. Thats hardly a vast majority, and we can not assume that all of this 30% had their credit ruined due to no job.

You are correct in one respect, companies generally do not care about your credit score. They check credit to see whether you are a corrupt scoundrel and a crook. Are you opening credit lines and not paying; are you you using fake names, in general are you stealing via credit scams.

Can we get an honest response to how they go about the background checks?

- Verify you degree
- Verify Dates, last title at employer
- Do criminal Record Check
- Drug Screen (pee in cup), so no weed at for next three weeks.
- When was ss# issues

This is all done via ADP (except drug screen). Had this all done within last 12 months, so its no BS.

They really dont care about credit beyond fraud. Had house delinquent, with no payment for 2 years. core was kinda low, but no fraud indicated. NON ISSUE

Fierce Pharma stated that 100,000 jobs eliminated since 2008 - you got that a tad backwards;)

Here a direct quote from fierce pharma, as you can see it mention s ALL JOBS in pharma, not just rep job. I am absolutely correct, approximately 35,000 SALES job lost in pharma. Thats 35,000 unemployed reps that will compete for every job opening out there:

"As anyone who follows pharma knows, the years since have been full of job cuts. The institute figures on 119,000 pharma job cuts since 2008."

Shouldn't you be doing a Med Ed instead of Googling BS job figures?

They never asked to be honest. It's on my resume as a college but I didn't put still enrolled. Will they also call my current employer?

YOU ARE SCREWED. My gosh what idiot would do this. Just because they dont ask you to be honest in a interview it is implied that you must tell the truth. And if you learned how to write a resume you would know how to notate that you are still in school.

I had the same experience, I did not graduate and I indicated that on my profile and application through the WC website. On the first interview the recruiter only asked what my major was, once I told her what I majored on while in college she never brought it up again. It wasnt brought up in video. I am still in the interviewing process, but nervous this may ruin my chances. Hopefully not! I am located in th SW United States area.

Dude, a college degree is an absolute requirement. There is no way you are getting this job, NONE! My suggestion to you, is that you finish your degree, so that this never happens again.

I'm afraid you are absolutely right. Although I have heard of people getting Pharma sales jobs without a degree, the usually have a lot of industry experience, which I do not have. My background centers around biology and working in physcians offices. Isn't it odd that the recruiter didn't bring that up though?

Very odd! I think assumptions were made. College degrees are virtually mandatory for the rep role. Good luck though, anything can happen. By the way, you dont really want this job anyway; we were purchased two months ago, and when the deal closes, there are likely to be layoffs. If you do get the job, please complete your degree. The competition for rep jobs is fierce, and this company is super high turnover. You will definately be looking for another job within 2 years, and repeat the same problem.
