Attune Tibia issue

They are contributing knee sales down 2% because of in part the flu season...Knees are down because of your shitty implant that you refuse to recall. Why not discuss why the S+ was designed? What a shameful company:
Dominic Caruso

Yes, Mike. It’s a great question. I think if you look at knees and hips. Hips, we feel is still very well received in the marketplace. The ACTIS stem from everything we hear is qualitatively very strong. We do think that there was a selling day impact of roughly a point in orthopedics impacting the U.S. And there's also like qualitative or anecdotal suggestions that a rough flu season also impacted surgeries this quarter. With knees, we think we’ll improve performance as we go throughout the year. As we come up with the ATTUNE Revision entering that the marketplace ATTUNE S+ as well as cementless offerings. So, I would say, it’s a mixed bag that the market was a little bit softer due to some ancillary factors, but there’s also some product performance that we can do as the year progresses.

Attune revision baseplate fell out of a pt during a recent revision. Also, another loose attune tibia on the docket for revision next week.
Truly hard to believe there hasn’t been a recall yet.

He’s not lying. Simplex has been around forever and is the market leader. Also, you misspelled “Stryker”, junior associate.

Both Palacos and Simplex have been around for around 50 years. Both are leaders in the market. Of course I’m going to misspell striker... out of disrespect. My point was if someone blames Palacos (or Simplex) for Attune tibia loosening issues... then that person is an idiot.

So what’s the problem?

This Z rep (who wishes no issue on the competition) thinks it’s a surface finish issue plus a loading issue (stem position, length, tray load position etc). Cement is very weak in tension so something is allowing for THAT.

Not sure the combination but there has been way too many of these revised in our area NOT to be recalled. This is bad for the patients, they deserve better than silence.

At least Z owns up to issues pretty quickly, sometimes to issues that really don’t exist :-(

Everyone in the industry knows there is an issue with Attune. Just spoke with the PA after doc left the room, asked about the new “S+” baseplate and how they like it (yes I am a competitive rep)... he said there’s still issues, still loosening and still coming out clean.

There is only one leader, idiot.

It's Simplex.
