Are you on a PIP ?

Seems like everyone is on a P.I.P. these days. Manage by intimidation is the only tactic that LCA knows. Taking advantage of the economy and keeping all the Sales people job scared.

This is going to back fire !

Everyday the best Seasoned reps are leaving and most want to hang around to sink the LCA and Quest's of the world.

In BCBS and UHC only knew how truly crappy LabCorp really is ......

Maybe they are starting to catch on .....

Yep, my manager tried to feel up my PIP during a ride-with. Fortunately my PIP was small enough so he couldn't feel it. It was a bit of a turn-on as my PIP expanded at the thought of his touch.

I agree with you, but what is a P.I.P.?

Many reps have sold millions for this company. Now we compete with the KAE's who have a quota. They are setting up accounts that belong to the SME's. My manager ignored the last three that was set up and said " it is what it is " Seems to be a slogan around here.

Then we have to compete for the credit from the Specialty Reps, Dianon, Genzyme, etc. Everyone is trying to take credit for sales that sometimes they are not involved with.

Just because a SME hits a bad couple of months, LCA wants to throw you under the bus !

If you are saying that you have not hit a dry spell, then you have not been in sales long enough.

No loyalty at this company !

It is so obvious that managers are responding to these posts. The vast majority of the Sales Managers have never been an SME. Most are glorified KAE's and butt kissers.

Just look at the Atlantic Division. Most all the RMBD's are " yes " women that bow down to the SVP. She does not want anyone that has an ideas different from her.

I agree with the last two comments 100 %. You are right on point ! I would bet you that the S.E. Division is worse than the Atlantic. You must be getting ready to leave, cause you are telling it like it really is !

maybe upper management and the VP's should ride with the reps for a few days and see what we go through on a daily basis instead of hiding behind a desk barking out orders

I was on a PIP but never got a ride-with. Maybe you could do a field report for my manager? I live in Florida, and the weather is really nice this time of year.

how can a kae set up an account that belongs to an sme? what part of the country do you work in? usually kae's can only set up accounts that are in their book and why do you compete with specialty reps, dianon, genzyme etc...I understand you can be in a sales slump but blaming everyone else seems lame

Had three new accounts set up by KAE's. Addressed it with my RMBD and she did not back me up. I had to catch in on my ACA review. I do not compete with the Specialty Reps, they look at my prospects and put my prospects on their call report. I know what I am talking about !

Indeed. What is up with "it is what it is" ... it is a slogan in several companies on this board?! I was put on a PIP even though I was a top performer but my manager thought I was uncoachable (whatever that means). I'm assuming it is because I knew more. FACT!

First of all Labcorp does not need reps to grow the business, they are expendable and they can get rid of at anytime. LabCorps growth is determined on what lab they can buy to buy the business and market share. What they fail to see is the lab they just purchased is made up of old employees Labcorp let go. These former employees were let go because Labcorp sees them as a cost, these former employees go to another lab and grow that business something LabCorp does not know how to do so they see them as a threat and profitable so they have the cash to buy them. Bottom line LabCorp cannot grow internal because they lack business sense and intelligence so they prey on the smaller successful labs and buy them out. Buy them gut them watch the people go to another lab and grow that lab then they start the cycle all over again.
\ If LabCorp is one of the top labs in the US why do they keep buying labs that are more successful with programs they could not duplicate?
New labs pop up all the time that are made up of people let go from a LabCorp purchased lab. If they ever looked to see how many former people they let go and went to a competitor it would shock them, instead they look to see how they can save 10 cents on copies or screw a rep out of a commission. Maybe they should spend more time looking at what they are doing wrong; they have accounts that look how to save pennies.

Ok, I have to give you guys a tip, Businesses like LCA really don't need true sales people. Lab is a commodity. At some point your relationships with accounts are going to matter less and less. You do not need true solution based sales people to get this product to market. At most you need account management. In the future as this market truly matures an evolution is going to take place as it has in other industries. "think the department store of the 50's". This business has evolved from its early incantations of wild west like behavior to the Walmart-i-zation it is today. That is not bad,not good, it is how markets evolve from complex sales to volume production. Do your self a favor, if you are under 40, change industries. Sell innovation and complex products that require serious business people to communicate value. If this is all you have done, hopefully you find your niche.and be prepared from serious realignment of your income and job. Some of you made butt loads of money in your day, congrats. (There used to be guy who made bank selling PC's in the early 80's too) It is not going to last.

Truth is as much as I think this selling situation sucks, what is happening to your job needs to happen in the macro-economic sense. You need to be wise to it, improve your skill, and move on.
Evolution happens!

Yep ! This guy has been so Brain-Washed.

He has drank so much Kool-Aid and has no clue about relationships that Sales people have with customers.

Keep drinking it dummy ...
