You know what really happened to Lilly profit and integrity was when they did not renew the Novaquest Contract. My Lilly asshoile partners all stayed home and did shit all day. When I would ask my key doctors who there Lilly Rep was they would say what Lilly Rep. Novaquest was the Rock that Sold any shit drug that the Lilly Reps were having troubling moving market share with. Examples would be Straterra, Symbyax, Evista and Cialis. Cymbalta is a different story because it is a great drug and a monkey can sell that. Novaquest ruled the landscape when it came to customer relations with there docs and Lilly was just a second fiddle. That's all folks good luck Lilly suckers.

MOHAMMED NAZIR KHOSO BALUCH WAS THE REAL PROBLEM FOR THIS COMPANY.
thank you God! he is now selling cookers in Madrid.

I was with Lilly for 10 yrs. I started in 2000, don't remember most I'd those perks. However I just wanted to be treated like a human being instead about a week after I started an HR person calls me up to ask me what race they should put down on my app. I purposely left it empty to make sure I was getting hired based on
my skills. Apparently they needed all the tax money they could claim by me being a non white individual. I was ready to go back to my old job after the second week at this new job. Fatima Yakubu Madas not only humiliated her underlings but she was like a female Idi Amin striking fear into all of us in QCL. She didn't even turn in our bonus paperwork one year because she said she forgot!!!bullshit!! Next Judith Torres the most unqualified individual to manage peoples careers made Fatima look like a lamb! This woman couldn't even apply her own make- up properly, both Fatima and Judith were demoted after QCL for good reasons. They got what they deserved. Next I went to BRD under Melissa CLague, Jill Olinger, Shilpa kaushik, and Allison kennington. All equally unqualified individuals put in charge of an entire depts careers. Useless people who don't care about anyone but themselves. Lilly is a joke, and if you don't take your career seriously then give them a try. They are sinking faster than the titanic now and nothing can save them. It's been bad business and more bad decisions than any of us know. I quit before they claimed me as their next casuality out of the 5500. Good riddance!!

Seems to be a common thread among all the supervisors you have had beyond their just being incompetent.

We all know that nobody gets promoted based on merit. It's a convoluted rewards system and rather than fixing the problems (yes, I said problems. Not "issues" - fundamental flaws, problems) - rather than fixing the problems instead the whole workforce is being converted to slavish second-class temporaries. Why anyone in their right mind would commit to four years of no equal protections under the law is completely beyond me - they would be better off moving back to their folks' and doing yard work. It would great to see an MBA study group make some projections on just how successful this particular six-sigma project will fare. Some of us reading this message may live to see the day the corporate center is converted into a public housing project. It could be "a gift to the people of Indianapolis, especially those who sacrificed so much for the patients."

Really you have to wonder how many lawyers are setting up shop in Indianapolis, with branches in every large state that has a respectably sized sales force. Why? Because - think about it - a billion a year in "savings" is more than 5000 people. Maybe double or triple that figure. How many employees do you know that are compensated six figures or more per year that can't be found for half the price? That is the reality and it's harsh. Very harsh. When you can recruit the top 1% of annual graduates of India and China, that outnumbers by 1000 all the Lilly scientists past present and future - and I'll bet they have equally sexy sales reps, too.

Bottom line you are not valued by the company anymore due. Healthcare is REFORMED people and you are getting exaclty what you put in office. It is kind of sad that people really did not see this coming as soon as Obama took power.

HEY! Don't be ashamed that you work for Lilly.

You can, however, be ashamed that you don't know how to spell the word "PERFORMANCE".
Once maybe is a typo.
Twice means you are a fuckin idiot that shouldn't be here in the first place.
I love these grammar police who point out all the typos and syntax errors. They have nothing to add to the conversation (it's over their head) so they nit pick the spelling. They probably would be a better English teacher than sales rep. Get a life!

The first day he was in office, the mask came off and the axe came down. It was all over then, and you should have been sobbing when you saw who you really put in office.

Ahh You Eli Lilly employee's are a bunch of over paid under worked cry babies. You should feel blessed that you had your jobs as long as you have. Suck it up and retool. Many great companies in this country have been laying off since 911. You should feel lucky you made it this long!

I think they should these so called "trainers and development" people go...for one I know Merry doesn't know what she thinks she knows....about the worthless worker.....just think how much money the get compared to the rest of us.....

Lilly was once the best company in the industry. I'm proud to say I once worked for them and enjoyed Indianapolis each and every time I was there. It's too bad what has become of a one proud organization. After I was promoted from the field in 2001 and went to Indy- I saw the writing on the wall- Lilly was trying its damnedest to become Pfizer. Most of my co-workers agreed. I also remember a meeting when Sidney T was there and made the comment that our share price was likely to surpass triple digits when Xigris was launched! That's right Xigris- and it really happened. My days at Lilly are long gone and I miss the people I worked with every day. I shredded my stock options long ago as they were under more water than all of us in the midwest right now. Good luck to you if you still work for the Colonel.

At least the pension is fully funded.

The real clusterfuck with this company was diabetes. Lilly owned diabetes. I don't remember if it was Tobias or Sidney who screwed that pooch. Diabetes is all over the place and Lilly, the company that first brought you insulin in the 1930s, the company that made the first biotech product, Humulin, the compny that brought you Humalog, can't even grow the product line.

A classic case study for business school of how to screw the pooch.

Lilly got too big for its britches with the insulin market and thought it would never topple. I was a novo rep at the time, and it opened the door wide open. Lilly is a laughing stock in Diabetes now, and Amylin made the fatal mistake of signing on with Lilly as a partner. It's been a debacle ever since.

Lilly isn't even as revered as it used to be in Indianapolis. It used to be the city's pride and joy. Now, it's simply another big company keeping the city afloat, but no pride. Lilly reps no longer reign supreme in Indiana doctor's offices.

Sad to see what greed and doing things the "corporate" way can do to a company.

Gonna have to disagree with you there. I was an Amylin rep who had to deal with the Lilly and NovaQuest reps when my territory was realigned to match theirs. Both were arrogant pricks who would sell their first born to get ahead in life. Oh, do I have stories.

Some NovaQuest reps were really good. Some Lilly reps were really good. Both were few and far between in my experiences. I'm glad to be done with Lilly. The arrogance was nauseating.

Very good post. Lilly is textbook case of how to mismanage a corporation. The company only exists at the moment because of successes fo the past...protected by patents that will soon end.

So where are they putting their eggs now? China of course. The final chapter in the Lilly debacle is when it becomes clear to everyone that the China strategy will not work. Lilly-China will get scientists, yes, but not China's best. As a result, it will not be able to compete with Chinese based pharmas...particularly when their government will have spies in the Lilly facilities stealing intellectual property.

Lilly is really a stupid joke of a company.

Some of the mainland Mandarin speakers will have a 1/1 with a native American employee to ask how to change a light bulb. Next thing you know, they are giving a seminar on how to change light bulbs. Then they get promoted to Chief of Research in Light Bulb Changing. In the meantime, the rest of the world is using LEDs. Okay any of you who have been at Lilly know the drill - and you are correct we get the second- or third- rate scientists from abroad. That may not be true of the IT people from India, however, although they are getting cut by 40%... no sense in any of this.

Yes, India is not out to compete with the US directly but to partner with them...and their CXO's to eliminate jobs. It is a different dynamic. The Chinese, on the other hand, will be out to beat the Americans. And they will considering how foolish our management seems to be. They are probably being fed this garbage by Business Process Reengineering consultants who have only worked in the IT space. This is a train headed straight for a brick wall. There will be no US-based business left after it attempts to compete in this manner with a much, much larger country.

Great article in today's NY Times about the Foxconn factory in China where all of those employees are suicidal. Apparently the world's largest factories ever were built on the model of American style factories - try to automate as much as possible - then eliminate the automation where humans can do it more cheaply. Well you will see the end result.

End result will be workers flee the factories (whether by suicide or by better jobs) and the American automation model is restored to it's former glory - let the machines do the work that is meant for machines. This approach BTW ensures a high degree of quality control and is encouraged by FDA. Do our executives read the newspaper? It might be smart to think things through while the unemployment rate is 10% - hey this is the very best time to be hiring, not firing. Maybe get some responsibly compensated executives in there who read the news and don't just sit in on meetings all day long.
