Thank you for the explanation! I know for sure that the only sane ones in some nursing homes are the ones acting crazy. For example, my father when hospitalized for a bleeding ulcer went "psycho" for the first time in over 70 years. Go figure! He got what he wanted, released (after being give 4 different anti-psychotics including Zyprexa)! He is now happy to be home.

I am sorry about what your father went through. You are correct about needing better care. That statement can be said for all of medicine. However, I wish there were more studies done to calm the elderly when they become agitated, angry, violent, explosive and manic like. Regardless of how wonderful the care can be, they need help. It is scary to hear the screams of a dementia patient in the middle of the night, panicking over their safety because they left or seeing the person who once hugged you when you were hurt punching you for no reason.
