any news regarding UCB contract

Got call from manager yesterday with offer of 55k. Asked for a little more - no go; everyone is at the same. 11k bonus..no car. It's a job, folks. The future is contract, unfortunately. The days of big salaries and bonuses with 6 figure incomes is over for the majority of us. Get used to it. I just hope that salaries don't start declining for the contract sector overall from this point. Would I do it for 50k? How about 45k? 40 anyone?

Someone just got an offer at UCB for 85K with a car to do same job! It's the contract companies trying to manipulate the industry toward lower pay. This used to be an entry level position. Now it's a temporary place until something better comes along.

Who said there isn't any gratitude? Just relaying the facts. I can't imagine one person who wouldn't rather be getting paid 30k more for doing the same job. I am glad to have this opportunity, it's better than unemployment, but it is just a transitional gig for me.
