Announcement Plan for 2012 Downsizing

Communication will be given at your Regional Planning Meetings in January. We will offer voluntary severance packages, but they wont be as sweet as you think. Only people 1-2 years from retirement will benefit. The national meeting has been postponed until May to allow for the process to play out. Mappings will be announced during the first week or two in February with the plan to have a "final" picture of the sales force in place for April 1. You will be paid salary through March and then the severance will begin. Expect 20 weeks minimum and the usual 2 weeks for every year of service.

OU offices will close by March 1 in order to support the HR teams in the process. Final general medicines field force size likely to be between 800-875 reps at the most. Neuro-Pysch will live to fight another day, but they will also see a 20-30% reduction.

Basel owns this entire process, so dont expect much more detailed information to trickle out. Non-disclosure agreements are now in place and very few people will risk termination in order to share details.

Good luck and God Bless.

So is it voluntary first and than the final cuts made? All divisions? Do lower level managers know at this time?

They'll have a limit on the voluntary Severances. They have to be sweeter than the involuntary severances or what's the incentive? We'll see.

Sanofi-Aventis is going through this now, voluntary severances and all that. If you are close to retirement or have something else lined up it's great if notnyou are better off waiting. The amount of the voluntary severance is directly related to the amount of time with the company. I'm assuming it will work the same way as Sanofi. You have to "apply" for the severance. Once they determine who wants out they will figure out who is "eligible" for the severance and who has to wait it out. After that they will slide people into open positions anyone left I guess gets "laid off" with a package. That's how Sanofi is working it. It's lots of just waiting to see...stressful I would imagine.

Bottom line...leak or not if you have to support your family or yourself don't wait around. Finding a job is not easy and the hiring process takes forever! Many people displaced last year have been placed but at pretty large pay cuts . So bank what you can and start the search.

Id like to know about Sanofi voluntary severance and what type of package is being offered. You say it will benefit those closer to retirement ? How so ? How different will it be compred to just a regular severance ?

More than 2 weeks per year ?
Buy up to retirement age if you are within 5 years of age 62?
Add to pension in the " buy up" process ?

The above are a few examples given to employees close to retirement with other companies in years past.

what would make you "eligible"? and what if you apply & your not eligible, now they know you have interest in leaving & most likely will have a target on your back!!!!

You idiots are the most gullible people. I posted this initial thread to see what kind of response there would be. It didn't take more than 4 or 5 responses later where you dumbasses are asking about another company's severance and what is it and how much is it worth etc! Hey dumbf*ck, first of all, this is a Novartis thread, not Sanofi, secondly...oh never mind, you jerkoffs make my point for me.

Do yourselves all a big favor and stay off this site...there is NO "inside information" on f*cking Cafepharma.

Maybe that tells you how bad people want out of here. Regardless I hope with the next round of lay-offs, that they implement your plan.

So how do u know this and why would they announce this now and then wait until march? So they want 4 months of people "going through the motions" ?

You think THIS is an announcement??? What a Schmo-ron. This is another idiot, like you, who wants to stir the pot on c.f. If you are using this site for announcement information, I have some land to sell you.

So, this is either the OP or some idiot trying to take credit. In any case, the time frame based on the "several months" claim is close, give or take a month or two. The actual re-org will probably not be much different than this.

They will choose the ones who go and the ones who stay by having us mate with each other. The males who last the longest will get the opportunity to go to the next round. Those who are premature will get the severance package. This will take place January 2, 2012 at the trapeze club on Fulton industrial. I can't wait.

I thought the original post was accurate but did find some things i doubted
They probably won't mention a word at the meetings in January.
Will be the typical like if you don't mention it won't happen
I do see the time frame similar only pushed back a month.
The changes will probably take effect May 1 as remember we are now back to trimesters. Novartis always starts the changes at the beginning of a year, quarter or trimester.
Lastly, although i do see the cuts being deep not that deep. 800-875 would cut 2/3 of what we have now. Remember, Reclast still has another year and there is still Exelon Patch, Tekturna (all brands) and Exforge.

It all makes sense. Novartis would be wise to asks for volunteers first if they're going to cut that many jobs. I'll be first in line as I'm only a few years from retirement. And the sooner they start the process the better for morale. Sales are suffering because everyone knows its coming. Better to get on with it.
