Does it matter who wins ESI? Unless you get paid from warehouse sales this is a non-reporting SPP, along with OptumRX, Rightsource, and Precision. Even if you are the best sales rep in the world and convert every statin patient to one of these new LCL therapies, only the top brass will see a real payday. You will need to keep a record of who is writing, when each patient went on therapy and be able to calculate from that start dose to prove you are actually selling drug.
Companies love therapies that go through non-reporting SPPs. They don't have to pay bonuses to reps and yet senior management who get paid on what leaves the wholesaler or warehouse make out big.
I think the company is a good company but they are follow a trend in the industry which is to move sales to SPP to avoid large bonus payout to reps.
You can get around preferred status on insurance plans but it means prior auths, LMN and appeals which take up staff time. Offices will do it now and again but they are not going to invest that much time and energy when they have two products that are basically identical. They will go with the formulary product every time.
