Amgen sales field support worst in industry

This thread is so funny! People are warned about Amgen and they still join the company. Then you get people whining about it.

It is not for the average sales rep. They will keep this pressure on until you leave. Yes, Javelin sucks so they will change it with a new group in sales op. Yes, sales credit are not accurate but they will never admit it. Yes, OCT screwed up on strategy so they will work to correct it. The only group they apply the no excuse attitude is the sales team. Get it done or get out! So many reps are taking the get out approach.

TO staff stay in their position for about 18 months and get promotion after promotion. There is no expertise in any level of staffing because of this exact culture. Projects are done for promotion reason and not to help the field. I can name many roll outs that has come and gone.

As someone that has been in the field and in headquarters, this statement is accurate.

Take a look at Repatha weekly finder! There is more inaccuraccy information in that weekly dump file which takes up so much space.... Few more months of rolling it out .... This idiot will be promoted to Director of access and reimbursement...

Do your job and shut your mouth you lazy slacker cry baby's. You'll be PIPd and FIRED like your other team members were. We are sick of it and taking aggressive stance to rid Amgen of two bit reps

This might be one of the most accurate observations about TO that I have seen. In essence no expertise because of the non-stop promotions.

Look Xgeva Brand Lead, Laura Brand, never a rep but became a DM for one year so they could make her brand lead. She never did any pharma marketing in her life before being the leader of a brand. She has a Wharton MBA and worked in corporate strategy at Amgen. Michael Jordan was the greatest basketball player but he sucked in baseball. Amgen is about taking slick talkers who VPs like with no experience and making them leaders. All these roles are for checking a box to prove that someone like her should be a VP of marketing or maybe with 1 year of DM, 1 year brand leader and now 1 year of RSD, she knows everything about commercial and is ready to be a VP.

TYPICAL AMGEN! No experience needed. just be a slick talker with fancy degrees and you are promoted. all talk, no substance

I agree! It was a mistake to come. But who would of thought that prior. It was supposed to be amazing.

The majority of CV reps agree with the above statement. We were told what a great opportunity it would be.....blah, blah, blah. It's worse than big pharma over here. Pathetic.
Customer databases are &*^&*& up. Target lists are wrong. We're measured on incorrect info/lists.
The sales force is working very hard. For nothing. Morale is terrible here. Rightfully so.

yes, and when someone sucks at their job they just move them to another business unit

This is so true and so sad. How can this continue to happen?? It's wrong. When will common sense come into play?
What can be done to correct this BS? -- Reports are wrong. Lists are wrong. We're evaluated on WRONG information. That is NOT OKAY.
We follow sales plans, marketing messages, use of resources EXACTLY as we are asked, yet due to poor leadership, poor planning (i.e. Repatha Ready mess!, lack of staff, etc.) WE, the sales force, is blamed.
IT IS NOT RIGHT.

Amgen's support of the field is the worst I have experienced in my career. Coming here with CV, I can't believe the "Screw you and deal with it" answer to everything (sales credit, doctors in the wrong geography, goals the same for everyone). Keep your mouth shut to Thousand Oaks though or you will pay the price. My question is why is it like this?

Are you kidding me! This is the Pharma for at least the last 10 years, perhaps more! If you want to stay in this industry you will have to enjoy your wins with your customers, build a cohesive local sales team, and block out the negativity you get from upper management! I do not see a change in the positive for the sales force.
I have noticed that the quality of people being promoted is more about who they are associated with and not quality! It's a shame, but it is the world we live in!

Trust me, it is not better in other industries! Love what you do and stay positive! We get a good salary and save lives!

Love it or leave it!
