To be honest, I never really understood the commercial or clinical value of the MSL organization. I found them to be blowhards and were predominantly fat white men. Sorry for the view!

PNU was the real start of the total downfall. Make no mistake. For diagnostics it was M. Land who led the downfall with his self-centered egotistical approach to marketing in-vitro allergy testing.

Downfall rests in two areas: (1) pharma R&D, and (2) consumer products woeful performance. I forgot a third reason for TUC demise, the MSL Education organization.

The downfall of TUC really started with the mistakes made in launching Halcion! The product was continuously defended by Marketing/Sales/MSL but the scientific community knew the drug had BIG issues.
