Abbott told us 7-9 months then rolled over!

I remember interviewing with a couple of companies when the opening with Novaquest for the Abbott contract appeared. I was hired in the second wave and started in Feb 08 and the Abbott managers told us that they would be rolling over 90% of the sales force in about 7-9 months. I could have taken a job with another company with a higher base but the benefits at Abbott would have been greater and after all we were going to be Abbott reps not Novaquest in a few months. Its been over 2 years and ZERO (0) people have been rolled over but there has been 2 layoffs and lots of people run off because of bad management.
Will the lies ever stop? Wasn't it just the end of 2009 when they told us that this was the year that they would finally start rolling people over to Abbott but at the same time they also said that Novaquest was going to be signing a long term contract with Abbott. So how many people have been rolled over so far this year and how many of your co-workers have been forced out? If you think that there isn't going to be another layoff this year you are smoking something and it sure isn't legal! It may not be June 30th but its going to happen within 6 months. Abbott is hurting in Pc as far as products to sell long term. Just because Trilipix was just approved last year doesn't mean that it has a long patent life before generics start appearing and it will NEVER get the sales that Tricor got because their was never a generic Tricor before now. Certriad will not bring in the revenue to replace either tricor or Trilipix because Abbott has to share the profitt with AZ. Lipitor will replace generic zocor in the statin market and it will slow down or reverse the growth of Crestor. The pipeline is pretty bare at Abbott for PC unless they go out and start spending a few billion or layoff everyone at Solvay but either way the sales do not justify keeping the Novaquest sales force currently in place after the crestor contract runs out June 30th.

You must be in Mensa, no?

I will never take another contract job again. I completely agree with you, it was all lies. I think Joe C and Kirk H should be embarrassed. What a waste of 2+ years.

Well, just to compare notes, I was on the NovaQuest / Lilly 8822 (Cymbalta launch) contract for 5 1/2 years (start to finish). There was never any talk of rollover. They tried to dangle carrots in front of us for the last year and a few months. Hell, they (Quintiles) were dangling carrots in front of us after they let all of us go. Quintiles just signed a new contract with Labopharm and hired back approximately 8% of the 8822 antidepressant sales force. Most DM's with NQ didn't even get an interview. Some reps from NQ got hired back. I went to one interview with DM who was laid off from S-Aventis I think. He was not with NQ in the past. Look out for yourself b/c no one else is!!

These 2 assclowns were in charge of 6275 too and the extended furlough that ended just as the interviewing was starting for 6297. Both of these guys need a good old fashioned knock down- serious hardship needs to to come down their path.

Well the OP may have been a bit premature about the layoff in July but this contract is going to be ending soon. Generic simva made Lipitor sales nosedive after it came out and generic Lipitor will do worse to Crestor. No way that Certriad become a big product now given the poor data from the ACCORD studies. Yes I know that patients that were not close to goal showed positive outcomes but that's NOT what the study shows as a whole. IT was only a subset of people that got a positive outcome from fibrates and that's what doctors will push back about along with the competition.
Lets face facts that Trilipix is never going to be as big as Tricor and Tricor's 145mg patent is going to be running out soon. Niaspan is never going to be a multi billion dollar drug. It doesn't matter how many tv ads they show its never going to overcome FLUSHING. The tv ad is a joke because the visual doesn't even show that the plaque is being shrunk that much but then again it probably is showing the actual reduction. LOL
The contract at Abbott is on borrowed time.
ANYONE and I mean ANYONE still believe that crap that Joe said when we started and again at the end of last year about finally being rolled over to Abbott and it was just a matter of how many people that they wanted as a CSO and how many they wanted as Abbott employees? If you do please let me know as I have some great ocean front property to sell you in Iowa.

NQ mgrs get a bonus based on employee retention- this company is nothing but lies. Heard one nq manager was telling her reps not to worry- the tricor patent won't be up til june 2012 and trilipix was 2020...(HA- not sure if the manager really thought anyone was buying one of her many many lies). .they are desperate to keep reps. This company is losing reps left and right...nobody wants to work for a company built on lies. There is no such thing as a roll over- ask your manager for one example with any company. What happened to "roll over" starting in june...or this "one year contract"....ask for it in writing- not even that is true.

Think about this ...THE PERSON who got the contract with Abbott signed and set up in the first place was on a different Novaquest contract. THIS person was promised a position with Abbott. This person is Still unemployeed!

There are about 38 positions across the country for primary care/dyslipidimia reps that just posted on the Abbott job board on 10/8. Looks like only Allstar 2009 reps being considered -or at least the post says top 10% 2009 reps are "preferred." What does this mean for the rest of us?? When is Joe/Kirk going to schedule a conference call to LET US KNOW WHAT IS HAPPENING?? We have to find out on cafe pharma? They told us last March that they would hold quarterly conference calls to keep us informed. What a joke.

Lets see 38 positions out of the hundreds and hundreds that they hired. They told us that they would hire 90%. Looks like they meant to say that they wouldn't hire 90%.
Remember when they said that Abbott was so pleased with the reps and that they couldn't be happier? So happy that they are only going to add 38 people. LOL

The people that Abbott needs to fire is the people in forecasting and management. Did they really think that Simcor would be a blockbuster? They were so stupid that they thought they had a real winner in their asthma and COPD drug and that pain medication was a real success. How about that blockbuster Certriad that would sail through the FDA, what are sales of that up to these days; 1billion or more? Oh, I forgot that it hasn't even been approved and now is never going to be more than an afterthought.

Abbott you are really taking the cholesterol market by storm. Anyone remember what happened when their patents ran out in the antibiotic market. What market are you going to try and run to now?
Great planning so everyone but upper management loses their job! Jerks!
