Abbott contract

so june 30th came and went with no layoff. What about this time??? Just get it over with. This stress is killing us. Headed into another weekend wondering if next week is the week. The distraction is causing a loss of focus and productivity. PUT US OUT OF OUR MISERY SO WE CAN START INTERVIEWING!!!!

Hate to face unemployment and it seems as though Quintiles hasn't landed a significant contract in quite a while. Guess there are just not many out there to be landed!

Quintiles can't land a contract is the problem. All the other contract companies seem to be getting new ones. Even IF (a BIG if) Quintiles lands a contract it won't help any of us...they are mostly hiring outside the company, or letting the customer do the hiring and if you are lucky enough to get hired......beware because EVERY contract in the last couple of years seems to get dropped early with no warning. This place is a very un-stable place to work......

Start interviewing anyway! Why wait...

Most opportunities I want to interview for require some travel. even though a layoff is likely I don't feel right about falling off the radar for a few days. They are probably searching for reasons to fire people!

Believe me, decisions were made months ago about who stays, who goes, and our contract in general. I doubt they are going to spend a lot of time building a case to fire someone at this point. This is actually a very good time of year to look for another job, according to recruiters. Hiring companies are gearing up for first quarter. Good luck and get busy on plan B - we all need to!

Def a good point. Not exactly sure what they are waiting for now. We all know its coming at this point. They have to know people aren't focused. I bet this drags out to April or beyond.

I wish there was a way to place a bet with you because this will not drag out to April, maybe Jan but not April.

I can't imagine they'll drag out this contract out much longer. What's the point? Way over-staffed and no Certriad. We were ultimately hired to cover Certriad launch and its not looking good, if ever. Heck they've known the "no launch" headcount needs for months and months and haven't done anything about it. I know for sure the territory I work has a "no-launch" number of 2 reps and there's 4 now. Hmmm...4-2 = 2 reps gone.

I've started interviewing and will take another offer; hoping to train during small severance period. No point in waiting for the inevitable.

This company is run by morons. I am tired of having NQ managers ride with me and "coach" me on how to call on my clinics that I have been calling on for 10 years. Face it NQ managers, you spend hours going over expense reports making sure spelling and punctuation is correct. And why the eff cant you just change people soft if you see the rep has made a mistake with the coding. Obviously you are already in the system, and you have the capability to do so!

When I feel that my rep job is worthless, I look to the NQ managers and realize.....holy shit I accomplish alot compared to those idiots!!

It really is ridiculous. my ABT manager rode with me and we developed a plan based on a MHC change that was huge for my area...The next week I told my NQ manager bc she was riding with me that I would be focusing on MHC in key offices and apologized for the redundancy but this had to be done. She gave me a PA on my FTR for not following the "selling model"! Are you serious!!! Ok, I'll work on my "opener" so that the doc is down the hall before I get to say, "what if anything stands out to you?" Shut your face and let me sell or stay home!

Dont worry it wll be over this month, November, spots are filled with NQ reps needed, now the alignment is being put in place, the contract is over soon and some NQ will survive but very few, and the managers, they are gone, dead weight, dont need two managers, makes no sense at all, tick tock tick tock ..........

Face the facts that as soon as Lipitor goes generic then the whole branded lipid market shrinks. It would be 10 times harder to sell another statin when generic lipitor is available for 5-10 dollars. Pfizer spent a ton on money on studies showing outcomes and Lipitor has great data so it becomes really hard to justify paying more when the studies that you would be able to detail from will NOT show reduced deaths, heartattacks etc than generic lipitor. If you look at the data you will see that Lipitor took a big hit when generic simvastatin came on the market. AZ tries to say that Crestor is unique because it's for the hard to treat patient but Lipitor is much more powerful at lowering LDL than simva and it still nosedived when a generic came on the market. If the ACCORD study had looked strictly at patients with TG>200 and HDL<30 then there might be a light at the end of the tunnel but there is not.
Why won't doctors say, "You know what, I am going to prescribe generic Lipitor and a generic fenofibrate for patients with low HDL and high LDL and TG. It might not move their numbers as much as Certriad but my patients can't afford a branded drug when they can get two generic drugs much cheaper with little difference in results."
Start looking now because everyone else is.

My Abbott counterpart received an email invite from PPD for the Feb. 2011 Las Vegas meeting. However, I am contract and didn't receive. Anyone else? NQ what's your status with this?

NQ rep here, i didn't get the invite either (nor did the other nq reps I know) but an Abbott rep/friend in a near by territory did get it. Is this a sign of things to come or another example of the stellar communication we recieve from Quintiles and Abbott?

Hear about the revision of quotas AGAIN? And continuing All Star til Nov instead of ending it in Dec? How does anyone know where they stand at this company? 1 day you're on top, the next you're not....or you're unemployed....

Just wanted to suggest that no one go overboard in their purchasing today because in Jan the hammer will come down hard. You had better be getting something lined up ASAP because there are lots of unemployed reps out there now with more to come and everyone is going to be braggin about how great they were and you'd be crazy to hire anyone else. CSO's reps are not at the top of the selection list when it comes to job openings. Just fair warning and its not going to just be NovaQuest reps either when the hammer hits in Jan. A lot of Abbott and Solvay reps are low hanging fruit too. Notice that there has not been a word about Certriad being approved and a huge product launch? Tricor, Niaspan and Trilipix are on borrowed time and Abbott knows this. No one in management at Abbott will lose a wink of sleep laying off hundreds and hundreds of people. For that matter no one at NovaQuest will either as long as they keep their job.

Done, leak today hit abbott is laying off, or in the memo , reorg with reduction in staff, also was strange that it alluded to contract in past tense...hmmmmmmm AP insider ie: the contract has served our needs well and was the right fit for the business model at the time, as this model has changed, it will be necessary to review our needs....
