6517

Two more positions posted in my area. That is actually a total of 10+ open positions in my area, actually 2x's more than the 8822 contract, which was large. I heard that this contract will hire anywhere from 400 to 500 reps.

So, the posting for 6517 went up last week. Has anyone heard anything from the recruiters/DM's in their area? It has been crickets here in the midwest region. Thoughts are that they are waiting to find out if riva xarelto actually gets approved. Any news from other regions would be greatly appreciated.

I think approval was announced on 7/5. I have heard that the phone calls should start very soon, maybe already have in some areas. There are several openings in my state, but not as many as for 6531.

They only have postings for 13 "field sales mgrs" on the website, which is not enough to handle several hundred reps. In the description of those postings, it states that these field sales mgrs will assist client mgrs with coaching and achieving sales goals. Looks like JnJ mgrs will do most of the work, but they will supplement with field sales mgrs from Novaquest.

I am speculating here, but its possible that many of the managers that were hired for the cancelled lilly contract are being retained for this one. Q management probably knew that 6531 was also a long shot (looks like that one may be gone ) and hired DMs could fill 6517 slots.

I do not believe they hired any managers for the Lilly contract that blew up.

I am on an "embedded" contract now and I don't like it at all. It is like the worst of both worlds. You get the disorganization and low pay of a contract company with all the pressure and demands of a direct hire. I was hoping for a contract managed by quintiles.

Is it better than being unemployed?

Has anyone gotten a call yet from a recruiter? I was told to post for the 6517 by a recruiter a few wks. ago but haven't heard anything yet. I'm a former Q employee (2 different contracts).

No car, no car allowance, no gas card.

Straight .55 cents a mile.

I have never had anything but a company car with everything paid for.

Anyone have any input on how the .55 cents per mile thing works out vs a company car or car allowance?

What about the tax ramifications of this method. Can you still depreciate the expense of the vehicle if you get .55 cents per mile or does that negate writing of the expenses with the IRS?
