3rd interview

$115k base might not be good for someone in the industry for a long time. If you are going to Genentech and haven't been in pharma for long, $115k might be a raise. For us old timers, it wouldn't be.

Re: Was 3rd now 4th interview...

Well, I just got that call that I made it to the 4th interview and I am hoping it is the last. Any idea how many candidates make it to the 4th round? What can I expect and is this usually the last step? Is this the time to ask about salary and benefits? For some reason, I can't get anyone to tell me what the pay scale is. Are benefits standard or is there some flexibility? I am going to lose out on some big commissions if I take this position and the stock I got when I was hired with my current company won't vest until next year so I am going to lose out on that too.

Thanks

4th interview! What are you going for VP of sales? Hope you are an internal candidate other wise they have wasted a to. Of your time!

Now the fun is just beginning! Get ready for a grueling panel interview with home office managers and then if you make it a full blown sales call with questions about the products you would be promoting! Better know the PI inside and out! But hey you want to live the Genentech dream!

Did they have Uncle Harry interview you as well? The interview process is a complete joke with so many chefs in the kitchen trying to be big shots!!!!! Genentech is such an over rated company!!!!

Re: Was 3rd now 4th interview...

So not true, plenty of insiders make it in to Genentech. BUT, you do have to be the best of the best!!

How do you feel Genentech reps stack up to reps from Boston Scientific? The "best of the best" do not reside in pharma. Sorry to knock you off of your high horse. Spare me the Genentech is biotech line. At the end of the day you are still viewed as pharma despite what you call yourselves. I know several clowns in this organization who would never cut it in device nor any other "real" sales job for that matter.

Spot on, its just drug "sales". Example Roche had an injectable drug for osteoperosis, and it was sold by "lowly primary care reps". Amgen sells a drug an injectable drug in the same exact class, and THEY are high end "biotech" reps. Its all in the same and neither actuall "sells" anything.

And what do you "sell" , probably copy machines haha begging to get into pharma..I've been Not selling anything for 8 years now in pharma and I'm doing just fine.. So get off the pharna boards and go back to "selling" whatever it is that you think is so great

The point was stop being on your high horse acting like you're really "selling" something when you are doing exactly what you described above, nothing! Great for you that you are able to get free money. No one is knocking that you're a slacker. What's being criticized is you are slackers acting like you are sales superstars.

You have to be unique. In Iowa we hired Nicole from Amgen. She turned over proprietary documents from Amgen that included loyalty discounts from accounts to show how to sell on the spread, or at least that was the perception. After she was hired, it was reported to compliance and Genentech hired outside Legal counsel from Washingtin, DC. The outside legal counsel called around to have the documents destroyed. I have no idea why since if turning over proprietary documents from your current employer is the pathway to employment, that is the job requirement. I guess it is one of the ways Genentech can cover itself and do a wink-wnk. Hopefully she will be doing training in Las Vegas to provide Informatiom on how to discuss the spread and how to profit off Genentech drugs.
