I was downsized from Novartis last year. After you get your severence package, you can take a new job and collect everything! Once you sign your severence and recieve the package you will be a non rehire. Say you get notice on 2/1/ 12 ( based on the WARN ACT NJ filing that is the date listed for NJ employees. Novartis filed the paperwork in NOv 2011...google it) and your speration date is March 30th, you can sign your paperwork and start a new job. You do have until the March 30th to find another job at Novartis if you wish. I got a severence and I got a new job a few weeks after being told I was downsized. I was lucky and I wish you the best of luck!

Looks like NJ will be hit hard, they have 2 listings, one for 145 people and one for 38. We should assume the 145 is field based and 38 home office based. Ugly for sure.
