This is absolutely true-they don't care. We are just tools to reach their goals. They will dangle the promotional opportunities carrot in front of you and will keep you here for years "striving for area or national impact" with never-ending extra-curricular tasks, just for you to find yourself years later in the same position because you just didn't quite do enough. And if you din't want to move to Indy, there's next to nothing chance of promotion.
If you look at how DT now even gives us verbatim or what to say to the customer, it shows clearly that they don't really care whether you are good or not. They will tell you exactly what to do and say to execute this customer service job. Some managers in the field still care because they want to get a bigger bonus through a rep that would move business more effectively, but the company could care less.
At the end of the day this is just a job to pay the bills. Our benefits are pretty good. I wouldn't bank much of pension to stay or be sufficient. Take it for what it is, and focus on yourself and your family's needs. I've learned to filter out all their corporate cool-aid talk, focus on my customers and patients, and run my business.
