Micromanagement in AbbVie

If you’re looking to interview for AbbVie, in my opinion run! That company is toxic, full of micromanagers, bullies, and all you are is just a number. Too many metrics i.e. emails, eight calls a day coffees lunches and managers, who have their noses, stuck up the regional managers ass so far that you have to learn to read between the lines because there is no transparency in this company . It’s a shit hole to work for And there is no work life balance. When it comes to your pay it is below what other companies will pay you. They’ve made it incredibly difficult to win Summit and they play around with your quotas and pass them out when the quarters almost done. You’ll never make a dime in bonus. Be careful of the managers here they’re all snakes in the grass and crooked AF.
We will find you lazy ones and roast your hairy nuts over flames of pine and oak

The micromanagement is killing us!! Everyone in Rheumatology feels demoralized. Is this in other divisions too or is it just the Portuguese idiot?
It's all divisions, not just Rheum. Most FAS/RAD are micromanaged, miserable and secretly looking for jobs. Many people moving out of Rheum thinking they'll escape the micromanagement, but it's everywhere at Abbvie.

do they track calls/daily activities in rheum? Are there any old school hands off managers?

First off, they track it all. You will be questioned about gaps in your day, so be prepared. It's hit or miss with managers. Some are micro to the max. Some haven't ridden with reps in 3 years.
Damn. Maybe these managers should actually go out and do their job instead of sitting around and playing babysitter all day. I swear I’m not exactly sure what any of my higher-ups do except tell us that we need to do more. I would love to see a breakdown of what upper level management does all day? I bet you it’s mostly zoom calls and an a whole lot of gossip around the water cooler.

You have no idea. These Micro-managers will look at calls per day, who you call on. Now they have set up routing for FRM's? Account Management is a Sales function - when you need to get close to the actual decision makers to EXECUTE the sale, formulary decision, etc.

If Manager is in the name, why the two flipping day field travels? Why field travel at all? We are problem solvers. Compliance rides used to be the norm, 4 hours at most and then. I do not know of one single FRM NOT looking for a J O B except those that are ready to retire.

In typical Abbvie fashion, they have taken a job that had good intentions and metricisized it for financial gain. FRM at Abbvie is a sales role. Why would a true FRM be riding around a territory 4 days a week calling on accounts without a specific need to be addressed in that office? It was basically a mass exodus to real FRM roles when they started requiring derailed routing and buying CMM data to go in and hammer the offices on. The only ones left now are sheep.

I cannot agree more. The micro management in the FAS team has no idea about the roles coming from Sales. That is all part of their agenda. Bring in former Sales "Leaders" and force in that mentality.

It will all come to a head before long. You can't have glorified sales reps running around with patient information. It just a matter of time...
