Vaccine layoff?

Have individuals already been told they’re being laid off? Has an official plan for the reorganization been announced by the company or just the unnamed spokesperson that spoke to the media?

I missed this. When and where did someone go to the media?
And no one is told they're going to be laid off. Sometimes it's completely out of the blue. But there's also always hints here and there where you can see it coming. No one is safe when there's new leadership. That's all of pharma though.

It’s never been like that in vaccines. We’ve always run very lean. Reps carry a heavy bag with 3-4 quota products (not counting 5+ additional products they don’t pay us for but we do all the work to sell them…) and no double coverage. They are burning it to the ground hoping for a phoenix to rise from the ashes. I have a bad feeling that things will get worse before they get better.

There's been a purge with all of pharma the past few months too.

I am an external candidate interviewing for a vaccine territory opening. Wondering how much priority is put on internal vs external candidates. Please don't jump down my throat for asking. Thank you.

Company policy is that priority is given to anyone that isn’t a white male. Also, supposedly all vaccine sales reps were terminated so not sure what you’re interviewing for.

They were, but they have to reinterview for their job. With about 60% of the original amount of people.

As for that person's question, the real answer is, no one knows. It could really go either way. The fact that they opened the positions to the public, says they don't really care who they fill.
I wish everyone well, and I hope you get what you're looking for.
Needing a job and being out of a job is always worrisome. Despite if you think it's a good company or not, it's still tough to deal with.

Thanks for answering my question and not jumping down my throat. My interview went well. The reps that were laid off must have been making very high salaries, because the recruiter told me the salary range and it was very fair. After initial interview with an internal recruiter, does anyone have an idea how long the rest of the process takes? Thanks again for not jumping all over me for asking. I've been in the shoes of the vaccine reps before, so I know how much it sucks! I thought it was interesting that the rep who was in the geography that I interviewed for is not interviewing for his/her old job.

Yes. I was told that all of the vaccine reps were laid off and have to interview if they want to get their job back. I do genuinely feel bad for them. I've been there before. It just seems weird that they they laid all of them off and are only bringing a small % back. It seems like training a lot of new reps would not make sense when you have people that were already trained on the vaccines. Companies invest A LOT in training!

Actually no. Vaccine reps have historically been very underpaid compared to industry standards. Supposedly the reason they had to lay everyone off and people have to reinterview is because they are leveling up the position to where it should be and this was the only way to do it, supposedly. The job will not be like a typical pharma job. It’s much harder in many ways. Especially with this shake up.

did they give you a timeline for hire dates and training?

With any jobs at Sanofi, the timeline of interviews to hire is all over the place.
Sanofi loves to interview everyone to death. Every division, and even for internal moves/gigs/preceptorships. They have to do a million interviews. It actually speaks very poorly on a company that does that. If you have to go through 3, 4, 5, or 6 rounds of interviews, then you suck at interviewing. If you can't figure out if the person is right for the job, you're doing it wrong.

It also seems like something always comes up, so if they do give you a timeline, it's usually pushed back.
