What is the future for Linvatec?

So, lets review: 3 Vice Presidents of Sales in 4 years, 1st was DM - resigned, next up was RM - resigned now TS - resigned. What in the hell is going on with this company? It would take too much time to list all the talented people that have left this company to seek sanity.

Seriously though, when is Joe Darling going to be held accountable for the ongoing mess he has created. How many Presidents would survive 6 years of zero growth? Rumor has it that TS resigned without even having another job lined up.

You’re a pathetic whiner. Were out here on the streets everyday competing against Arthrex, Medtronics, Styker and every other med device companies that is trying to kick us to the curb because of high product cost, lame new product innovation, the med device tax and you’re complaining because you have to work to earn your pay check. We don’t care where the product is manufactured as long as the product and margins are good. I hear there is a city in Mexico named after a Mexican dog that could do your job and a city in China named Shenzhen that manufactures med device products for a lot less cost, maybe you should learn Spanish or Mandarin. It’s pathetic individuals like you who drove the electronics and auto industries out of this country, keep complaining and we’ll need a story to explain why the product box says made in Mexico. I hope your manager fires your lazy a** before my kids have to learn Spanish, maybe someone can light a fire under you. Take your toilet paper and go whine at another company or to your mommy.

Since when does Linvatec compete with Medtronic? (no S on the end of Medtronic btw)

The best question is; when will Joe D be held accountable. 3 VP of Sales, 1 VP of Marketing who last less then 6 months (remember TLopez - wasn't he hand picked by JD) and numerous others such as Bruce M, Tom D from imaging. By the way, how's that Viking deal turning out? So many mistakes - I call them mistakes because since JD has been President the company has done NOTHING but lose good people AND sales!!! Lets see.....when JD came in the company was somewhere around $800 million - and today I believe it's somewhere barely above $700 million - WRONG DIRECTION JOE!!!!!

I Completely agree!

someone that looked alot like jd told us that with the new products in the pipeline we would rule sports med by 2013. ummmm I'm not feelin it yet, about the rest of you?

I see Linvatec positioned nicely for future growth. The MTF partnership, Y-knot lines, Power 50, refresh on small bone and finally some attention in the resection and RF lines. There is no better orthopedic company to be working for right now. Would you rather work for Arthrex? How about Mitek, or Smith & Nephew with the hostile takeover of Arthrocare? Yes, there has been some turn over on the inside, but I'm telling you the grass isn't greener anywhere else.

On the outside looking in, you might think that. Don't be fooled. While we finally are starting to see some improvements and updates to existing products, Conmed still invests way less into R&D, than any of our competitors. And even with the products we have, it's way too hard to get our customers pricing that will close the deal. Management is under the gun to increase profit margin, not increase sales (even though they will deny that). Well guess what? This company isn't going to grow. I know that some of our procedure specific products have seen marginal gains in sales, in the last couple years. Do you wonder what happened to our other product areas in that same time frame? I tell you:
-Video: losing our remaining marketshare to Arthrex and Stryker, at an alarming rate.
-Hall Power: continued loss of marketshare to Styrker.
-Shavers/Pumps/RF: continuing to lose market share to Arthrex and Stryker.
Do you want to know what management is doing about the continued loss of this marketshare? Nothing.

Did you actually compare this nightmare to Arthrex????

This is a honest and accurate post. We are losing share. An even more accurate view is that darling has been a failure. If not for ous sales performance things would be far worse. Thank god darling inherited Hamilton and he stayed or darling would have screwed that up too. Take a honest look at domestic sales and the moves darling has made since he has been here and can you see anything but failure. I don't think he has a clue at what to do with with sales, he just seems to be guessing from the moves he's made. You combine this with darling being the chief advocate of the mtf and video acquisitions which are failures and you really have to ask how is he surviving. The best hope we have is that we get sold to a large company who has the ability to invest in product development and knows how to drive sales in this changing market. Let the conmed family keep the rest for them selves up in New York but let us go to a real medical device company

Not sure what the rest of you are babbling about. I have made more money this year then previous two. Things are moving in the right direction. I finally have doctors asking me about our products. That's a game changer. Arthrex rep feels it too.

WOW - your historical figure must be Nero, fiddle while the empire around you burns to the ground. Congratulations on making some money, I'm sure there are many individuals that have done somewhat well. The long-term and over all direction, leadership and corporate decisions are the driving factors for the intelligent comments on this board, not the short-term sales reps who happen to make some money. Review the sales numbers of the COMPANY, down 3-5% EVERY year JD has been president - so many other bad decisions and people leaving that are of the greater concern.
