Has the Solvay Pension Class Action Lawsuit Been Dismissed?

it was something about people who were currently working for or had previously worked for solvay and were 40 yrs or older, because that age group got the shaft when solvay restructured their pension plan and a class action suit was put together to fight it. there have been posts saying everyone got six figures and others saying that it was dismissed. if it did settle then the people who got money can't talk and if it didn't then the rumor mill will take over. either way we will never know the truth about it.

ok. I am the demographic u listed and have never been contacted about a settlement. I still get my pension updates in the mail=rumor mill

I was contacted but didn't participate. So the fact that the class action suit was started is not a rumor. However I chose not to join, which I now regret. I was worried about repercussions because I was told the list of participants would be available to the company. I know someone who did participate and he now talks like he is doing extra well financially so maybe it did have a good settlement.
 








I left Solvay 3 years ago and was contacted after I left. I participated and have not heard anything regarding the class action I think it is still being litigated. Usually a class action law settlement does not amount to much. Now that Abbott owns Solvay we will likely see nothing.

Sounds like you left right at the time everyone was contacted to begin with, so nothing has been finalized yet? I didn't participate, too chicken. Do they give you updates or will it be nothing heard until it settles?

I was there a few years and did not get a pension or anything with a layoff. Signed up and nothing happened. No money. No word.
 
















The retirement lawsuit is ongoing and hasn't been dropped yet. It's exspected to go to trial sometime in the summer of 2011. Solvay is doing everything they can to screw the older out of as much money as they can. I for one, would like to thank our government for letting this happen.

I have not been updated personally. I lucked out leaving at the right time.... But the company I have been working for is in trouble with the OIG... Also may be sold or a hostile takeover, possibly by Amgen. I am looking into lab sales now. Both Solvay and my present company were great to work for while it lasted! Good luck to my friends at Solvay, I still miss you.

Over 50 and got not a penny when I was cut. I was shocked then and am still shocked that no offering was made to those of us who are older. Im hoping for the best when this thing opens up again. Certainly need it with the economy and talk of SS being delayed and benefits cut.

I called the law firm that sent the notice that I was eligible and they said that there would be a published list of the participants sent to Solvay. I asked at what level (i.e. dm/rbd, etc) would the list be accessible. I was told anyone could see it and even though I was told that retaliation is illegal, I got spooked. I regret it now. If I could have known about the Abbott purchase of Solvay I wouldn't have sweated it so much. Solvay was so small and personal that I let that get to me. My own fault if I miss out on the dollars I guess.

what are you saying? you did not file? they have names and that Abbott is paying the people who deserve to get money?
