La Jolla’s Synthorx has raised $63 million to make cancer drugs from a partly artificial life form, the biotech startup said Monday.

The organism’s unnatural DNA allows it to make improved forms of natural cancer-fighting proteins, Synthorx says. If approved, these would be the first drugs produced this way.
