Ziploop vs Tightrope

There was never a recall on the ziploop. There was a small recall on toggleloc, but only one lot number. Arthrex reps are going around making it out to be much more than what it is. The ziptight for syndesmosis is better than tightrope because it does not have the knots that irritate the skin. Both products work well, but the only point of failure is that knot.

I work for SYK and i sell against the tightrope all day. That technology is a piece of garbage. Plus studies have shown tiny pieces of the implant might be created by micromovement of the suture material against the button, activating giant cells and stimulating granuloma formation. Ultimately this causes some soft tissue irritation for the patient and the dr. is taking it out. Sure it's a minimally invasive technique and can be left in situ, blah blah blah, but at the end of the day, let's be serious Arthrex: You're a fiber wire/sports med company. Stick to that and leave trauma to us and Synthes

The Synthes rep on here is a complete moron. The micromotion is why you would use the tightrope or ziptight. The irritation is coming from the knot on the tightrope...that is why the ziptight is better. Both are great option, but the tightrope does have a small occurance of irritation due the large knot.
