Does this mean that Zimmer has sold out the orthopedic industry to China? This will be painful. These guys are fucking idiots.

The trainings will be dedicated to the mutual sharing of knowledge and expertise in R&D, quality and regulation related to musculoskeletal health. The partnership aims to allow BJDA to gain industry knowledge and to understand Zimmer and its products through dialogues and trainings undertaken by its State Inspectors. The goal of the agreement also includes strengthening production and inspection expertise at Chinese medical device companies to ensure the delivery of safe and quality orthopaedic medical devices. Ms Lu Aili, deputy director general, Beijing Drug Administration, said that, "The trainings provide a platform by which both sides will be able to gain from each other's strengths related to medical devices, especially in the area of orthopaedic reconstructive. Overall, BJDA is committed to working with all our partners and industry stakeholders to achieve the goals set forth in the 12th five-year-plan of upgrading the healthcare industry and ensuring citizens' health and quality of life." According to recently released statistics by the China National Committee on Aging, the number of Chinese senior citizens is expected to increase from the current 185 million to 487 million, or 35 percent of the population, by 2053. This joint effort by Zimmer and the BJDA to hold training sessions lays the groundwork for additional opportunities to share knowledge in the near future.

And don't forget all that "metals technology", materials, designs, machining, production techniques, etc. in orthopaedics applies very nicely to the aviation, and other national defense areas. No wonder China will (if they haven't already) copy our aircraft designs, ships, armor and other weapons systems. Why our industrial leaders, and our own government allows it, continue to give away proprietary information to a sworn enemy is unbelievable. And if you think they won't pass this on to Iran, etc. you are really kidding yourself.

Your thinking is outdated and paranoia blinds you from the reality of globalization. Countries with interdependent economies have no reason to wage war among themselves. Greater security comes with having others' well-being dependent on your own. China doesn't want a disruption in the US economy just like the US doesn't want a disruption in any one of its economic partners.

There will be no more great wars because the consequences of it would be beyond catastrophic. No government would put itself in such a suicidal position.

If you still feel threatened, consider this: the United States spends more on its defense budget than the next top 15 countries COMBINED.

Why do we have such a large defense budget if there is no real threat of war? Because the military industrial complex is such an integral part the US economy. War, or the threat of it, keeps this system of cash flow alive. Eisenhower explained this in his farewell speech...

In regards to the actual topic of this thread, the move Zimmer corporate pulled off with the BJDA is incredible, to say the least. This is a major victory for ZMH and its shareholders.

Yeah I believe you. YOu must be a manager farming out US jobs for your bonus.

You can praise Zimmer if you'd like. You are foolish. Any shareholder value will be shortlived. The Company will dominate China for about 2-3 years then will be destroyed by their Government sponsored manufacturing. China will then wipe out the US in the medical device sector. Give it 5 years.
