So you're saying Zamicet is "indicated" for cough?? Sure didn't see that on your detail piece. Sounds like an off label promotion to me. I'm sure the FDA would have some questions of their own if this language continues.

This can be used for cough, since both codeine, and its derivatives, such as hydrocodone inhibit cough reflex centers. So Zamicet is indicated for both cough and pain...and the FDA knows about it.

No Zamicet is not indicated for cough, it is indicated for moderate to moderately severe pain. That is what was approved by the FDA. Yes, according to clinical pharmacology :
Hydrocodone is a semisynthetic narcotic analgesic and antitussive with multiple actions
qualitatively similar to those of codeine. BUT the FDA didn't approve Zamicet for cough!!!

I was precribed Zamicet for my cough. He said he was going to give me the "good stuff."
It worked, but could only take it at night...made me sleepy

Is anyone really getting any doctors to prescribe this stuff for cough and if so whats the best way to do it?

I was prescribed Zamicet for cough and I would rather have Tussinex. It has an antihitamine in to dry up the runny stuff and it tastes good. This Zamicet is a just a marketing thing. Not for a true sinus/ear infection.
