Ranbaxy begins shipping generic Lipitor to US from Indian facility

Ranbaxy has started exporting its generic version of Pfizer's Lipitor (atorvastatin) to the US from its Mohali SEZ facility in Punjab, India, the company announced Monday. Since December 1, the drugmaker has been selling generic Lipitor manufactured by its Ohm Laboratories unit in the US after the FDA banned imports to the country in 2009 from its plants in India. CEO Arun Sawhney commented that "the resumption of supplies from India into the US market, is a significant milestone for Ranbaxy."
