So I was one of the reps that got displaced last week, and at first I was pretty upset about it. I had never before been fired from a job, and seeing as just about everyone else on my team was kept, I was pretty bitter. However, then the Severance package info came in:

Full salary with NO WORK until March 11
Full Insurance until end of March
8 weeks severance pay (i.e.-4 paychecks lump sum)
Prorated current IC
Last quarters IC doubled and paid out lump sum
All vacation days cashed in.

When the dust clears, I will be getting a check for just under $25,000, and I already have a better job lined up that pays the eact same amount as DSI without the ass kissing. Thanks to Daiichi Sankyo for firing me, best thing that could have happened to my family!
 






Consider that an extra bonus for all the bullshit you had to put up for the years here at DSI. I'm glad you found a better opportunity hopefully not in pharma! Go use that money to be D. Free.

Really? We are not getting doulbe bonus- infact we are getting screwed out of our payout for December. I worked like a dog in Dec to get my numbers up- and I did. Funny how they haven't posted QTD ranking- my guess is that it will be after 3-11-11. The whole thing is upsetting and the fact that they were trying to get away with just 2 weeks of severance across the board is just scarey.

This isn't true, OP is spot on.
 






That is nothing for being displaced. $25K is nothing. No reason to brag about it. Glad that you receive a small token of "gift". It is standard stuff. Look at other companies where their tenured reps can get up to a year of severance pay, bridged to retirement possibly with pension, six months of free medical and dental coverage, then COBRA, etc.
 












Ex-novartian that got laid off in Dec. Was paid salary through Feb 7, minimum 20 weeks severance (additional 2 weeks for every year after 10), insurance through Feb 2012, $2500 training payout (for whatever reason), Vacation days carried over AND accrued through Feb 7 paid for, also receiving 1st quarter bonus payout in March. Option to close out pension and 401K if desperate.

Sorry for anyone let go, but they could've done better by you.

Big deal! What's 25K? Aft taxes it's 16K +/-. Oooooooo! God, people flapping their jaws about such stupid shit. Any job you get making 40K-50K + going forward gauranteed you will be kissing ass, justifying your days, etc., etc. No place to hide like in Pharma. Enjoy your little "score" and "all" your time off. Reality is gonna be there before you know it and you will see what your "better" job is all about. You just keep convincing yourself.
 






Hey 25k is a nice gift. Seriously, take that, make it work , get another pharma gig, continue living your life. People like to take sides, it's human nature. At the end of the day, it's a job, pharma is an industry, the job are the same. Targets, promo spend, efficacy, etc. I wish you luck, dsi was great while it lasted. Another awesome pOsition is around the corner. Change can be positive. Don't feel u need to justify yourself by a 25k check. Take the good from this and enjoys the time with the family.
