A friend showed me how she keeps track of her daughter today by logging on to her computer and tracking her daughter's IPAD. Amazing, she could see it as it moved from place to place and could track it by time and position. She said she could program it to tell her where her daughter went and what time she arrived and left. I'm sure this is not a eureka moment for most of you but I found it very interesting.

Now if they give each rep one of these your DM will be able to tell when you leave the house, where you went and what time you went home. Not sure I like that, big brother watching but it will force some of those who screw off all day long to actually work or quit. Perhaps had this been the norm for the last few years a few people who were retained might have been dismissed?

Things to come folks. Amazing.

Never quit without a new position. Let them fire you or have them lay you off. You can always threaten or file a lawsuit to get more money. Never sign the papers they throw at you when you leave. I know many people from other companies who hired an attorney and walked away with another $25k to over $100k with setting a foot in the courtroom.

I can see the DM's now, sitting at their desks looking at it like Harry Potter's Marauders Map.....

I wonder if they can attach little icons to each unit?

If you use this for work, isn't it telling you something if it is turned off? How would you explain to your DM why the iPad is off during the day? Things would get interesting if it is as RT says: you can be tracked. Those 10 AM to 2 PM days with 2 hours for lunch would be hard to explain.

Maybe if the ipad's 3-G was shielded then the wireless signal could not get out or in.

Possibly putting it in a metal container that was grounded to the car.

Or even a cardboard box that had been wrapped with several layers of aluminum foil.

Wow! That's alot of work...how about just doing your job consistently. I mean, after all, that is what they pay you for isn't it.

I find it laughable that you think they would allow DM's the supervisory capacity and authority to monitor our reps whereabouts live time.

Wake up. some DM's already use information from sales calls, tolls and ffleet gas card to triangulate a reps position and see if it jibes with the reported calls!

Or, another way to "triangulate" is, you can pretend to be a wannabe FBI agent like a manager (Troy Roe) used to do in Wichita, KS. He used to "stake" out reps homes for their comings and goings. I would have called the COPS and had him arrested for stalking. Typical of the level of maturity Novartis seems to snag on to, which is VERY LITTLE!!!

Lets see, novartis has canned you but you just can't go away. You're like the guy two years into college still wearing your high school varsity jacket. I now know the dude Springsteen is singing about in Glory Days.

An ipad can be tracked even when the computer is off. This is a feature put into the system for individuals and allows you to find your ipad if it is displaced or stolen, much like a stolen car. During the webinar training, they showed us how to turn the feature off and on. I'll turn it on when staying in hotels but off for day to day work.
 






Just turn location services off or turn the iPad off. It's not rocket science. Btw, no pharma company, even one as screwed up as Novartis, is going to let mgrs track reps. It's a huge legal issue. I know some of you will disagree but I was a DM for another Pharma and legal would not let us physically follow reps no less track electronically. It has to go thru HR, have excellent rationale then done by an outside company. Disagree if you want but it's true

Btw if you just did your jobs you'd just do your job you'd have nothing to about.
