How boring is the field of wound care.......geez! Hey I'm with ACell....can i stare at your stinky smelly wound? Im outta here! not my type of profession! I actually went to college for a reason and it was not to stare at other peoples wounds. Later Haters....

Have fun!

You are a great rep. You took a job that entailed calling on wound care docs. Yet you convey a message regarding your distaste for this arena. So go somewhere else. Why are you so "unoriginal?"

Wound care? Why the hell would you be calling on wound care? No reimbursement, except in some states and even then it's WS and per mg of powder.
Wound care wants to treat every week; Apligraft, Dermagraft, Hyperbarics. Those all reimburse big time. Here's your pitch to Wound Care (ACell positive and Reality) "Hello MD would you rather spend $3,000 on ACell over next 5 weeks and heal the patient or spend $7,500 on other Medicare approved treatments and collect $22,000 over the next 12 months?" ACell is better patient option but not better economical option for WC so a positive additude ain't changing that despite our arm wrasslin' preaching change, it ain't coming soon. Too much money being made with other options. The Genius needs to get the studies started!
You ain't layin 3 grams of Powdah in a wound care center!

as a doctor, i would imagine i would adhere to the hippocratic oath to which i swore, and i would go with whatever provided the best patient outcome.

That's the way it should be, but we all know that is far from reality. At the end of the day its ALWAYS about $$$$ and that includes reimbursement.

Wound Care Centers are not about the Hippocrates Oath in any way shape or form. Even if you wanted to do the right thing, the manager of some company like Healogics would shut you down immediately. It robs from their $$$ generation so they want expensive items only when they can bill Medicare. If its over 30.00 per application, they dont use it and patients suffer for it.

Companies like Healogics should be banned from Medicare billing as they only use products that they can bill, regardless of what is best for the patient or healing the wound quickly. At least they are falling out of vougue where hospitals are choosing to manage their own wound care clinics. Its just not happening quickly enough.

Why are you upset? Because they won't use your product which has no data? Do you realize if you get the data, then the reimbursement will follow? It's not rocket science. Walking in with your IPad won't do squat. If you ran the wound center and had a clue, you would not use ACell either.

Completely agree. Without reimbursement, no product gets into a wound center.

Poster 5.. Please just be quiet. Medicine is about money and what's "best for the patient" depends on what is effective AND economically viable. This not only true in wound care. It's true across the spectrum of medicine.

I work another product and have to agree with much of this thread. Wound Care has many deficiencies and messed up reimbursements for wound care. When centers are paid on patient visits and not how fast they can heal a wound, the system lets the patient down. Capitation will correct this problem when Medicare finally wakes up. Its all about the $$$$, not the patient in 95% of all wound care centers. Healogics is just one of many so if you dont like it, write a letter to your congressman about Medicare and how reform needs to be brought to wound care reimbursement.
