Wound Care - Account Manager Position, FL

I just applied for the Senior Sales Account Manager Medical Device, Ft. Lauderdale position via a recruiter this morning. I have 11 years experience in medical sales and I'm in my mid 30's.

What are my chances of getting the position?

Is the Ft. Lauderdale a producing/hitting quota territory? Why?

How does the Ft. Lauderdale territory add up to other territories in the State/Region?

What is the regional manager like? Helpful/hands-off?

What are the other reps in the region like? Helpful/welcoming/cutthroat?

Thank you!!

Bro,

A response would have most likely elicited a response. 5 was a bit over the top.

The low down on the position...

1. If you have 11 years of experience you are way too overqualified for this job. S&N will throw a big base at you to get excited, however you won't make much on commissions.

2. Fort Lauderdale didn't do well last year. The rankings have yet to be finalized, but this district has a shot to be the region of the year. Having said that it was essentially carried by the Miami territory. Dude was a stud. Awesome guy. But he's since gone into Marketing. Old Ft. Lauderdale rep was a good dude just didn't do much with the territory. Last year we had a new product added to our bag. The product is phenomenal. It's everything else that is not. Ie: pay, support, marketing people, etc.

Ft. Lauderdale should end up in the bottom 1/3 to 1/4 of territories in the US.

Team is relatively new. There is one guy that's a joke that moonlights as a wannabe actor who rarely works. A tenured chick that's cool. Most of the other reps (read all) will be new within the past 15 months. This is representative of most regions as to the reasons I listed above there's been a lot of turn. Hope that helps.

Thank you for answering. I did not realize that all my posts would go to the top of the S&N thread. I'm new to this site. I can see that I got a lot of pushback from posting so much.

I appreciate your answers.

Interesting that most people are new. I wonder why the Miami rep left such a good territory?
Is the territory still doing well?

How is the "tenured chick" doing? Hitting quota? Rockstar?

How are the newer reps doing?

What is the manager like?

Thanks again!

The Miami Guy had been in sales for quite a long time here. Also got a huge buy in before he left which contributed to that regional performance. I imagine it wouldn't have been fun dealing with that base this year. Damn near impossible actually. His territory will do well but doubtful it'll be better than when he was in it. Solid relationships and he was easily a top 5 rep in the company IMO.

Tenured chick was doing well. You have to remember our division acquired a new product last year. Some of us inherited decent bases which allowed for quick growth. Some of us didn't which made for a long sales cycle and trying to introduce a new product into most of our hospitals. I'm not sure where she'll end up. My guess is around the top 1/3. But had good momentum toward the end of the year.

One of their newer reps won Rookie of the Year, but to be honest she can't sell her way out of a paper bag. Inherited a lucky account and didn't do much. I predict she'll fall flat this year. Don't know much about the other reps.

Met the manager once or twice seems nice enough but I know the other managers don't think highly of his business acumen.

So, how did everyone fair in terms of national and regional rankings at the NSM? Awards?
