Working in a temp position at Genentech...

I recently interviewed for three different jobs at Genentech, all of which are temp-to-(possible)-hire.

Aside from the basic stuff like no bonuses, no Genentech benefits, what are the disadvantages to being a temporary worker?

And, generally, how likely is it that I will get hired on permanently after the contract period?

Advantages = Should get hire hourly rate, should get time + 1/2 for over 40 hours. Down fall = no vacations, unlesss your agency offers, THEY CAN TERMINATE YOU WHENEVER THEY PLEASE. NO REASON, NO SEVERANCE, NO HR PROCESS, NOTHING! The bottomline is that if you need the job, and most do, take it. Just no that you are on egg shells the whole time. Irritate some one, make a mistake or error, any little thing can can them not to hire you. Just tread very carefully during your contract period.
