Working for Questcor

This article not only sums up the medical sales role, but sadly is now how working at Questcor feels like. 1. Money, definitely applies to Qcor, but #3 and #4 are the most prevalent. We are working for the #1 ranked company by Forbes and yet the corporate culture has turned toxic. I remember when leaving a meeting I couldn't wait to get back into the field and see my customers. I felt motivated and energized. Now, meetings are nothing more than beat you up, and what you've done is never enough. From finger pointing to PIP's, its all a blame game now. The pressure and "managing by fear and intimidation" has made employees not loyal. Qcor was the place where everyone wanted to work. Now recruiters are asking "What is happening at Questcor, I have so many resumes".

Sadly we see new people hired everyday that only add to the fat and layers of administration and bureaucracy. The Home Office schedules meetings to talk about meetings to plan their next meetings. And how all these great ideas will revolutionize sales. In the meantime, sales reps are left hanging with limited resources, limited support and a "get it done or your out" mentality. How about applying this same kind of urgency to all the departments and people that work here? "You've got 3 months to put this program together, get it launched or your gone." If it works for sales, why not all those departments you've hired to supposedly support sales?

As you said, this is why so many from Questcor are looking elsewhere. Management wants more and more and there is no end to it. Management is deluded about future prospects of sales with the current data in the existing represented indications. I was told when I came over that management is always playing catch up. That was an understatement. The Questcor culture is so bad that upper management thinks it's always the fields or marketings fault, not their fault for over estimating earnings to the street.

Just a bunch of ex BMS & other big pharma co reps who don't know how to sell anything brought over by your prior mgr so what else do you expect the incompetent keeping the incompetent in charge!

The culture has shifted dramatically. Many people looking to leave, morale is at an all time low and management seems to like this. Putting people on plans and using fear tactics to "get it done". With the Genzyme hiring and anyone who does not reach their stretch goal, 20 percent or more of the sales force will be gone by the beginning of the year. You would think working for Forbes best small company of the year would be a positive thing. Not even close!

And whats worse is the Home Office is celebrating like no tomorrow! They are taking credit for the stock rise, for sales increases and any success achieved. Sales is being treated like work horses, easily disposable and of no value. When even reps at the top are discouraged and beaten up, its only a matter of time before sales are affected.
