It will be close to impossible to keep that little boy from scratching the healing penis at this point. Why didn't he (the father) just go ahead and have it done right after birth? Now it's going to be a painful experience that little boy will always remember.

Exactly. What man who was circumcised right after birth remembers any pain. Done later it's painful but still better done than not done.
