Why would JJ take the job?

Seems that there is a lot of negative feelings towards the sucess of SVNT and its ability to raise cash, sell the drug, get insurance co's. to pay for it etc. Lots of so called new employees who for some reason come on here and begin to dump all over the co. they just started working for. Granted the co. is in a difficult place right now but many companies have been in bad shape and turned it around.

The one thing no one on here seems to be able to offer any good reasons about is why Johnson would leave a good job at Eli Lilly to take on this role if he had not done his homework and already looked into how and where he would get cash for the rest of 2011 and 2012. Its well known what he did at Imclone and his solid ties and reputation in the investment community.

Has anyone really tried to come up with any reason at all why he would leave his old job and take on this one if he wasnt sure the drug had a chance to be successful as well as if he had no idea how the co. would raise cash past the next 3 months? Now if they had hired some random out of work CEO or someone who had no experience as a CEO in the past that would be one thing, but he has vast experience and has turned a co. left for dead where there were also major doubts if it could sell its one drug and if it would get covered by insurance and medicare/caid. Currious to see if anyone has any comments on this other then the same old "the company sucks" or the same issues that have been posted her over and over.

Good question you pose.

My take is that this is a guy who has a great background to take this company and move it forward in a very positive direction. His background at J&J in the biopharma arena and then taking Imclone to eli lilly...he has a great track record of success and a guy like him is not going to come here to fail, so he has done his due diligence. This is a very good thing for Savient.

Regarding the haters on this site, pay no attention for they are in the minority. They are delusional morons with nothing better to do but grind axes and whine like babies. They will tell you that they know better than a leader like JJ but they are nothing.... The more I dig into this product, the more I like it. It will transform the lives of these patients. Payors are writing policies every week...access will be good. Make no mistake about it, those are facts.

It's all about ego and cash. He has to be getting a huge bump, sign on bonus, etc. If he makes it work, he's a hero. If it turns into a shit sandwich, oh well. A calculated risk clearly but in his mind he won't fail.

seriously! ego and cash...you say this like you know him. there are a lot of people at Savient that do know him from J&J. My guess is he has plenty of cash and did not need a "bump"....lol. He wanted the job and did his due diligence...take that for what it is worth. This site is soooo good for comic relief !

Gulp, gulp, gulp.....pass me that juice! Straight out of the manager's manual. JJ came here to try and put together a miracle story, and get this bitch sold. Fast. He was enticed with the old buku bonus scheme and milestones the size of boulders. If you think JJ coming here for the quick sale has any relevance to your Krystexxa promotion and managed care blocks, you are dumber than you sound. A realistic perspective does not equal hater. Lots of people disagree with you and I would not default contrary points of view based on fact such a negative. But view it as you may, it makes no difference to anyone but you.

The stock goes lower and lower even after Mr. Johnson was hired. I would focus on what may be wrong as opposed to what is right. It makes no sense to me how one does not see that we have some problem(s). Much of what is said now is meaningless and noise until we have a clearer understanding of what we face.

Ceo's new gig here has no bearing on the short term tenure of this salesforce. A bunch of hold overs and misfits of nepotism from J&J. Great track record there, NOT....!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You are clearly a truly disturbed person....maybe insane.

SVNT will keep moving down to sideways for at least 2-3 months. Then you will see a press release admitting to patient population that was overshot and overpriced. Reports on medicare reimbursement rates being slow to process and a vague statement about the difficulties of managed care for this product and the lack of sufficient reimbursement dollars much less than anticipated. I would not be surprised is Medicare pays less than 15% to Sav. for this product. There will be a blip about how the uptick in denials for expensive therapies are the real issue, deflection of accountability and market dilution as Savient dilutes the stock and has the shareholders pay for the financing to keep the sales force and lights on for a few more months- JJ will orchestrate a "metric" based update on penetration at the 4000 RH offices and targeted refractory gout providers, and the plan for a 60 person salesforce to overcome the impossible starts to dwindle and the issue of going in alone and without a big pharma presence hits the management team like a 5 ton load of bricks, for a second time, heads will roll. Penetration at the Nephrology level will be touched on and a generalized comment about how KT has a future in kidney disease and so on and so forth and a lot of blah blah blah with no clinical support, but you bet JJ will spin doctor the crap out of it, he is a hired gun.

There will be boo's and groan's from the street as the question on cost, over estimation of target population and the problems with infusion clinics and hospitals not wanting to buy in for 60k annual treatment with inventory on the shelf and few patients who cant get coverage. They will not be able to fill the chairs and doc's will be very hesitant to play this Krystexxa game at this cost and with the codes being kicked back from Private insurance and CMS, the snowball effect will be in full force. Reps will be terminated for lack of performance.

Towards end of the year you will see accelerate towards $15-$17 a share as the shorts will be run off. Then speculation from MMA for Europe and vague approval promises will push the stall game to a new level. At the end of 2011 the company will be begging to be acquired by Lilly for $20/shr. If this does not happen the doors are shut once and for all and JJ and his crew will cash their checks and move on, you on the other hand will be right back on he unemployment line, this time nobody will be there to bring you on as your reputation and shadiness will be found out once and for all, no buddy system will get you a job at that point. Enjoy it while you can. This gravy train has a short run. Your welcome!
