Why so many people on Allergan Threads these days?

Why are so many on Allergan threads these days? Has it really gotten that bad?

Neuroscience leadership is SOOOOOOOOO impressively bad. No motivation, no bonus, no outlet for frustration and nothing even resembling leadership. Three years ago there were no CP posts, now at least 4 regarding the division. Horrible joke.

This could not be more true. I thought Neuroscience's was a bit disorganized prior to RS and NM taking over but that was nothing compared to what's going on now. Nobody knows whats going on, the strategic plain is outdated ie programs/pod selling and everyone knows it, even the managers and RDs but they overcompansate and act like total cowards/kool-Aid drinkers, and pass the same garbage along to the field. I used to never come to this site now its a weekly thing just the way it was at my prior big pharma crap company.

The "mighty eye care" division has gone downhill. Morale is at an all time low. Priorities are on how many signatures you can get in a day instead of making good quality sales calls. Reps are no longer people but instead numbers and robots. Managers are no longer managers and resources. They are there to stand and wAtch-no coaching, no longer part of the conversation. We no longer make sales calls. Its a show up and throw up business. And next year all products will have generic intrusion.

Oh, now I know where Neurosciences got its new template for how to run this division. Really sad.

Good to hear at least the company is consistently disapointing. It's embarrassing to think that Facial Aesthetics was once considered a "medical sales" position rather than pharma. Now we're e-detailing, soon to be e-sampling. We spend more time logging calls, responding to emails and checking the boxes so the metrics look good than actually selling. We're more pharma than most pharmaceutical companies (except no big salaries).

When I started at Allergan, I came from a mid size company. My old friends were jealous I landed such a great job. I remember thinking "if cafepharma is quiet, this means people at Allergan are happy in their jobs"

That was 7 years ago. Today recruiters no longer look at Neuroscience as "specialized buy and bill reps"
Mr Pyott, please step in and take a good look at what is going on! It is a disaster in Neuroscience. What a sad, sad division. No one wants to be here and the promotions are going to so many outside the company. They don't know toxins like we do! Why does upper management think someone outside is better than some reps at Allergan? Why were reps who brag about sitting home, get promoted?
Please Mr. Pyott. Help! Neuroscience upper management is sucking every last bit of passion from us.

Thank you in advance.

Would you come to this job as a new rep in neuro? Are the sales calls consultative? If you don't plan to stay at Allergan, what other companies would you look at?

Thank you in advance...I am coming from a HORRIBLE environment! We have lost half the sales force in the last 2 months due to firing and quitting...just terrible...I don't want to get into another job like this!

Neurosciences is turning into that sort of enviornemnt. It WAS consultative but the environment is quickely going downhill, in fact we're already there. It started a bit last year but it really has turned in 2012. The old VPs were sales guys that understood the Botox selling process and were supportive of field sales and came up in the organization. The new VP of Neurosciences is a J&J guy that is brining the same old mass market stratageis and hiring policies that have done in other pharma companies. His VP of sales is an unqualfied/insecure product manager who was promoted because he was probabbly a lot cheaper and less opinionated than an internal expierenced VP of Sales. A lot of long timers are being put out to pasutre and the management that has been around for a while has turned from trusted leaders to spineless, ass kissing pharma cowards. This new VP is a massive micro manager as well, as he has the final say on all hiring decisions, not allowing managers and even directors to hire who they want. Most of the promotions are buddies from prior organizations or people from that attended the same graduate program, it's commicaly obvious. His strategic plan is forming a pod selling system and doing lots of speaker programs, not too innovative and not sustainable in the long term. Bottom line is we went from reps that showed doctors how to inject Botox and walk them through the reimbursement process to reps that just show visual aids and then close hard for the business, despite never earning that right are listening to customer needs. My days are full of begging doctors to go to speaker programs and trying to stay off the corporate radar. We used to have input on marketing decisions and other things like compensation now we're scolded for having opinoins. They've also installed a new National Sales Trainer who is a lot like Nurse Rachet. We're treated like 8 year olds and the managers can treat us as poorly as they like without reprecussions.

To answer your question it really depends on how horrible and how stable is your current enviornment. Long term Allergan Neurosciences is no longer a good carreer move, the pod selling system is not sustaibable and will create layoffs within a 5 to 10 year time frame BUT in the short term the product (Botox) does provide some stability. If you're on you're way out or the products at your current company are going generic and you need to pay the bills then come aboard get some injectable expierence then leave. Bottom line though its a toxic enviornment
