Why Is Health Insurance Tied To A Job?

Why are people so against Medicare For All when chances are no one will ever retire from their job? Cobra is expensive and Obamacare is trying to be dismantled in the Courts. Layoffs are the norm and not exception today so chances are you’ll lose coverage.

You are asking the million dollar question as to why people vote against their best interests. The Republicans and right wing corporate owners have done a great job spewing out propaganda that people just eat up. Trust me they have studied the Nazi propaganda play book—Goebbels and Himmler would be proud. Best of luck if the Supreme Court overturns the ACA—along with the pre existing clause. Have lived in Northern Europe and the health care system which everyone here calls socialism is great. And some of the countries have a better standard of living than we do in the US. Time for people here to get educated.

Help me understand. If If employers subsidize healthcare premiums, how is that in their best interest? As far as Northern European countries, yes they do have a national healthcare system. It is paid for by taxes. Look to our neighbors north of us. Canadians who have any wealth whatsoever buy a supplemental insurance plan. My mother-in-law lives there. Once you hit the golden years of 65+ is when healthcare rationing begins. Long waits for knee and hip replacements. You have a major surgery? Take couple Advil and wait six to 12 months. I'm not saying our system is perfect, but a national healthcare system is designed to help the young and "healthy". And remember another thing, the U.S. subsidizes pharmaceuticals globally. Without us, innovation slows dramatically.

Also, healthcare isn’t specifically tied to insurance. Many HCPs take cash and many offer concierge programs. Get outside your own mind.

Open a HSA and save. If you have one, save. Pay for highest deductible/catastrophic only. Take care of your “temple”. Save more. Shop cash pay prices. Use good RX and blink. Affordable if you have skin in the game (your own).

And pray that you or your loved ones don’t get cancer. Only in the US. We are a shi$ hole country.

Or Better Yet

Christian Healthcare Ministries (CHM) is an budget-friendly, biblical, and compassionate healthcare cost solution for Christians in all 50 states and around the world. We’re not health insurance; rather, we're the first and longest-serving health cost sharing ministry, having shared nearly $5 billion in our members’ medical bills.

you are insane. The right has studied Nazi propaganda? Holy Shit, the left live it daily. Moron.

Don’t forget - people in US need as many reasons (or incentives) to actually work. If the only way to get good insurance is to get a job, think they’re going to change that?

All insurance is tied to money and you need a job to have money.

There are lots of way to pay for insurance or healthcare. You could own your own business. Oh could take time off from work and have savings to pay for it.

Snowflake, you’re not special. The world doesn’t owe you anything. And your logic, or lack thereof, is directly tied to the idea that you want something for free. Nothing is free.

Medicare is not free. Every Medicare recipient has to sign up for it before they turn 65 and pay something for it. If you sign up late you pay a penalty for the rest of your life. The better insurance you want the more you pay. If you want free insurance try to get Medicaid.
