Why is Eisai having such a hard time selling Belviq

The drug seems safe, it works for 50% of people and works really well for about 25%, and when combined with phentermine it appears also to be safe and nearly universally effective - more effective over 3 months than any other combo therapy is over a whole year.

So why can't Eisai sell this drug?

Umm you can eat right and exercise and accomplish the same if not better long term results with out taking a pill with AE's. People posted on here 2 plus years ago that this would be a failure. They said the weight loss drug market was fickle at the provider, payer and patient level. People can't stay on the drug forever and the long term efficacy post stoppage of Belviq doesn't look all that great. Lifestyle change is the only way to do it long term. Belviq for some could be a jump start but it's not the answer more most and the providers and patient are seeing that now.
