Why does Amgen have you sign non-competes if they do nothing about them??

Serious question. I turned down interviews for same specialty jobs because of the non-solicit I signed. But reps are leaving in DROVES for same specialty and Amgen doesn’t care. Why make us sign them at all then?

They’re there just in case. Some reps leave, so what? Now if they make a large enough impact that Amgen notices, then they will fully enforce the non compete

It’s less about the non-compete than it is about the non-solicitation...Amgen loses their mind when managers leave and they take some/all of their people with them.

Rather than create an environment and culture that people want to stay for Amgen prefers to just try to enforce the non-solicitation clause...more lawyers than scientists...

Correct...however they will and have enforced them in states that recognize them like Massachusetts...so Cambridge/Boston based companies are at risk since Amgen does have brick and mortar in Mass. Ask the Karyopham folks.
