Why do high performers stay?

Looks like it is going to be the 3rd year in a row where the field is paid at (or close to) target. When we launched we were told that the high performers would still be paid close to pre-CE. That hasn't happened. The separation between high and low performers is at best a few grand. Is the external job market so bad or are we still hoping that the early promises will finally come true?

Genentech

At No. 2, Genentech boasted breakthrough research milestones this year in retinal vein occlusion, multiple sclerosis, spinal muscular atrophy, lymphoma and influenza in young children. Genentech has forged successful partnerships as well. In September, BioSpace reported its deal with Arsenal Biosciences, a multi-year collaboration to identify critical success circuits in T cell-based therapies for solid tumors.

This is so frustrating. I looked back on my W2s and the new model simply no longer rewards high performance. The good news is that I don't have to work as hard to get an Exceptional rating. I just need to tell some great stories.

All of the truly exceptional talent left some time ago. Some then again were legends in their own mind. In all seriousness, there is nothing to be considered exceptional for in pharma these days. Micromanagement and compliance have stripped the ability to be exceptional from sales. Luck is now the reason someone gets rated exceptional

I have never seen a company of slackers like it is here at G. It’s actually the most demotivating place I have ever worked.
You could do just about nothing and celebrate your 6 yr anniversary and sabbatical.
