Why be negative?

I freaking love this company. I am doing well, kicking some behind and I think it's fine. Yes the benefits aren't as great but they stink at other companies so everybody get over it. We are all lucky to be making over 100k a year base salary

What the fuck are you smoking? 100k base salary, not even close. People are leaving in droves for more money bc the money here sucks so badly!!!

Been making over 100k for many years now. I would hate to be the poor sacks only making 75k. Learn to market yourself better, or change jobs a couple more times-oops, might be bad for your résumé.

There are not many people here making over 100k base and you know it most people make about 80-85....sure I've made over 100 with bonus many times but you're full of shit if you're base is that high. Only the minions of kk from years back got ridiculous offers, and even then they weren't that much. So stop lying.

Most reps are making 70's not 80's troll. Yes, some of the best hires did come from Kathy. Some of worst hires seen, old od reps, and Ista.

Idk about your area but in mine we have very good former Ista reps and the former OD reps are very good as well, a few have qualified for platinum. Many are in the 80s just bc you may not be doesn't mean others aren't. You sound bitter.

Not bitter just honest-believe me, noone was impressed w od reps. Lets see, talk about minor surface disease, or try selling to md's, no comparison. Also-those od reps had coverage in their areas. I know maybe a handful of good Ista reps. Many great Bausch reps gone in Ista purchase. Kept not so great. Sad. Not bitter making over 100. Reps ny area at 70's, so you should inform yourself on areas outside your brain-but might not be possible.

I do not understand the negativity.

This is the most positive, stress free environment I have seen in many years. The salary is good, in fact, better than most. If you are unhappy with your salary you have options-show a good enough sales presence to earn a raise or try finding a company who will pay you more for your track record.

I find that those who complain are the ones who are making less because they did not have a great track record to base it on-but someone decided to give them a chance. Or, you were not a good enough sales person to sell yourself or ask for a better offer. Those who have been on board wanting 100k but not getting it probably have done nothing to earn or deserve it.

Try looking on the other side of the fence before you whine and complain about what you have. The salaries available in the open market now reflect 75K to 80K unless you have a consistent top 10% ranking and current relationships.

So, lets say you finished in the top 10% for the last 3 or 4 years and tried to move to Allergan, who is laying off-start salary at best would be $80k and a Mid level position. At Alcon, who is required to hire within first(an intern will beat you out) the salary will be $75. Look at Thrombogenics-you'll make more money, but you will never see your family or friends and you will be contract labor at a company that is struggling to keep the doors open with one no-good drug. You could try surgical sales. Good luck! Lots of travel. High goals. Noone is buying. Look at your current customers. How many of them are using custom lenses and procedures?

If you want to get out of eyecare, do it! Unless you have other experience or have only been in eyecare less than five years, you might not find it so easy. Everyone is hiring reps with current relationships. Then look at the salaries being offered. Same.

If you hate your job, your manager, or the company the best thing you can do is get out! You will be much happier. Try another field.

But please quit the constant whining!

I'd like to add to this. I have been researching in case I was downsized. Here is the information I have found from various sources-

For the average age of 40 with 10 years experience and 20% job travel (this is not overnight, but 20% out of town-) here are the numbers-
Median BASE salary is $75,000 with a median total of $105 (bonus/commission;etc) in specialty pharma it's upped to $85,000 and $115K

that's 10 years experience people…that gets you a median base of $85K

remember, there IS a difference between experience and performance. Someone at 10 years experience is not the same as 5 years in the top echelon. Companies want people/sales reps who go out and perform, not sit around whining because they don't.
