Why are we here?

I am assuming nobody at Amgen in the upper echelons will read this but they should. So why are we where we are at and why is morale so low?
Simple, Amgen like a lot of companies out there grew, probably too fast. Unfortunately, the super stars of Amgen lost focus and perspective. More and more departments were created which fed the creation of more and more departments. In turns it led to more people needing to justify their jobs by creating more and more junk for the worker bees to do. So what does this do. Simple, it creates more bureaucracy and pushes the worker bees further and further away from doing what they actually need to do, what they got hired to do. So what does Amgen do to deal with this? Simple, it creates more and more paper and smoke to get us closer to do what we need to do. As you all know it does not work that way.
Why do things still get done then? Simple, because a lot of us work like dogs and get streessed out to death because of it.
Sure things could be worse, sure we do have a job, but it does not mean it should continue to work like this because in the long run it is not manageable. Plain and simple. Sadly, I do not believe anyone near the top cares.

Sounds like ARI where no on cares. Management as well staff always have in the back of their mind they could be the next to be terminated like so many have been from this site. Hundreds of jobs have been removed from this site over the years and we all know no one is safe here. Makes it hard to to give a honest eight when you know at any time for any reason Amgen will show you the gate. As we call it at ARI the walk of shame.
