Why are so many dermatopaths leaving?

Why are so many dermatopathologists leaving AmeriPathDermpath?

When Quest first acquired AmeriPath it had 100 dermpaths. Now it has about 80 (according to Dermpaths Web site). What happened?

It depends. One dermpath lasted a whole week here, but didn't like the atmosphere (she claimed other people were hostile to her). Another left after a year or two; one left after about a dozen years. I haven't honestly seen any dermpaths retire; they just work here and then leave for another lab or another job.

Maybe they don't like the idea of working under the Quest umbrella and want to work in a smaller lab.

Ameripath & Dermpath are two separate companies, both under Quest umbrella.

Speaking of DermPath, there's supposed to be another physician joining the South FL business unit later this year. That will bring the total of dermpaths there to 11.

They let one of the dermpaths go today. Now it's down to 10 doctors total, which is still pretty good.

had one here in metro Detroit it closed quick.The people they hired to manage the lab were rejects and wacko's!!

SFL is still doing good, with 10 dermpaths. Don't know how many are in other labs throughout the state.
