The poster speaks the truth....it's a kids world!

Little experience is the way to go!

This is contract work! Guys the company thinks all of you are doing great out there and the client company is just tickled with the results (and the low price they paid to get them!)

Seriously take off the 'I'm so great, the company's so great' glasses and think $$$ like you owned the company...Who'd you want to hire (and yes layoff in about 2 years as that's about contract life) to do this job?? Young recent college grad (you feel good giving them a job, they get experience, no long term commitment , nobody has 2 mtges and kids in school when you lay them off) or Mr. Dino Rep from big pharma looking to stretch out a couple more years before his tax and finance guy says to dive into that big retirement pile he made in glory days...As for the gals/guys with 10 yrs in, former big salary and benefits...gee sorry this really isn't a good fit for both of us.

Here is the reality with Inv, Quintiles, and Pss. If it's a new contract, it doesn't matter what type of experience, or how much you have. If you are a manager and know the new director, you will get a job. If you are a rep and know the manager, you will get a job. The buddy system is not at all discouraged, and you will find that 75% of the hires make no sense. This is across the board with all contracts. So when you go to an interview, and you notice the interviewer not taking notes, this is definitely the case. They already have someone in mind, and they have to interview a certain amount of people for each position, whether it is for a manager or a rep. Inventiv really doesn't care. It's their job to get the spots filled as soon as they can. That's how they get paid. You have a much better chance of getting a fair interview if the spot is a backfill, because chances are the interview will be 80% with Inventiv HR, or with the Field Manager assigned to the project whose sole job is to keep the contract fully staffed.

this thread is not entirely accurate, yes it helps to know the hiring DMs, but one must have a good reputation of being able to sell effectively and deliver results, and if you have done that in the past, regardless of the contract company, you will have the possibility of being rehired

Previous post , what kind of gobbly gook corp speak was that?? Yes DM's like knowing who they're hiring (wouldn't you?) and will hire the guy/gal a) they know and worked with in past b) know that this rep won't screw up and make them look bad...as for selling , come on this is pharma, what was your latest sales quota, did you make draw this month?.. inVentiv's major SELLING Point (ie. this is how they make money so we can have a job) is WE can get REP butts in the territory tomorrow for you!..tell us how many you need!.. Yes DMs have to check the box about how many interviews to make (after all the rented the room at the Hampton Inn for the whole day)..seen plenty of DMs just flipping thru the questions with the "oh, haven't asked this one yet" or after a solid 25 minutes get to the 'well that's it for me, you have any questions?

Good luck and Good Selling!

wow, this might be the dumbest post ever. you topped the other idiot!

Sales is sales. Good reps have impact. But, you are probably a dummy and cannot sell, so you bash the industry.

F off, loser. Stick with selling real estate or whatever BS you did before.

Not the case with GSK contracts

This is a great job, but not selling.. selling real estate is hard , 100% commission work. Good reps have impact..? sure they do, your a good solid rep..the company will recognize this when contract ends.
