Here are hiring goals of major employers over the next few weeks and months:

Seven Eleven: 20,000 peeps

McDonald's: 50,000

Taco Bell: 30,000

Dunkin Donuts: 25,000

Home Depot: 22,000

Walmart: 35,000

Dollar Tree: 25,000

Dollar General: 50,000

Go for it, before another rep gets hired before you do! Stimulating work interacting with customers while raking in the money! Beats Pharma sales any day!

You forgot Amazon and UPS. These are not bad jobs, great benefits, nobody asks you how many lunches you served, you do your job and you go home. No worthless Teams calls listening to.

You can also open a franchise. Lots of options. Not sure if you're serious, but just because our jobs are easy, doesn't mean they are good. Lots of ways to make money out there.

You are correct. UPS starts at $25 per hour and goes up to $40. But by the end of the day you feel it!!!
I have my side gig for Amazon driving, just got a raise to 18.50 an hour plus was offered overtime paid at 150% of regular pay.

Am in the process of applying for a DSP (Delivery Service Provider) having my own fleet and drivers. It's a seven day a week business but you get 10 cents per package as owner. A typical DSP delivers between 4000 and 7000 packages and envelopes a day. Do the math. The only days off are Thanks Giving, New Years day, Christmas and 4th of July.

But yes, I don't miss the catering activities, the POA bullshit and useless ridealongs when I drive for Amazon. I get up at 4:45 AM , shift starts at 5:55 AM and ends at 4:25 PM. Get to see areas I have never seen and get to pet cats and dogs all day long. By the end of the day I am tired and fulfilled. Currently work Fri, Sat and Sun, so no DM interference.

Good for you! The job of a pharmaceutical rep has become nothing but a joke. It's all about metrics. A life controlled by metrics....Total BS.... How unfulfilling! And then, on top of that, add the BS from the idiots at the home office!!

This ship has sailed a long time ago

So why do we do it and why are so many people clamoring to work in Pharma?
It’s easy work, it pays stupidly well. I mean my wife and I are both reps and we live among doctors and lawyers.
You can run a side gig with no problems as you describe.
Yes this ship has sailed but it seems the people who pay our checks are the last to know.
This pandemic should make abundantly clear that companies do not need hundreds of reps to make money for the company. Most other industries have figured this out too and lots of those jobs will not be filled because they’ve been proven obsolete and unnecessary.

“It seems the people who pay our checks are the last to know”....not really, they do know...but think about this... if they get rid of us, THEY have no jobs. But regardless, I am glad this shit show is coming to an end, I am tired of trading happiness for money...
