When will we be combining our energies in 1?

Enseal works when used properly, maybe the surgeons suck, or the rep hasn't spent enough time with the surgeon. When the rep and the surgeon are properly trained and have been through lots of scenarios like the tenured reps have, it works very well.

Keep whining those of you outside of Ethicon and those inside not hitting forecast.

That's the issue, "when used properly". I'm not worried about the smart surgeons who know how to use an energy device. Those guys have been on Harmonic since I converted them to ACE back in the day. We acquired Enseal for the dummies out there who can't get beyond, "grasp, burn, and cut". Enseal has too many variables for the dummies to screw up. The device worked very well when we had the RF60 and you got the physicians over the fear of cold cutting. Once we brought in the GEN11 and the separate tones along with the safety lock, it was too hard for those dummy surgeons to figure out.

We need a device that is just as easily to use as a Ligasure or Gyrus. These physicians who use these devices, don't want to think during surgery.

And don't get me started on the various levels of confusion with when to advance the knife blade and the second tone within our company. If our product directors were training us incorrectly when we launched the GEN11, it makes me wonder if anyone really understands this device.

But there's always Super Jaw....

Combined into one system, no way. I like the way it is. I sell Harmonic and Harmonic only. Why gum up the process with a user interface issue. I have enough to handle without adding more problems. Let those guys at Ligasure and Gyrus deal with their little GYN market and surgeons who need a instrument with training wheels!

It's rah rah reps like you that believe harmonic is the only device ever to sell. You must not have been selling energy long. Technology changes and surgeons want new advanced devices. Covidien at least came out with Sonocision (cordless) and Olympus came out with their Thunderbeat (seals larger vessels). You would think we could come up with something new in the energy device world instead of rah rah harmonic!

The vessel indication is really a pointless argument. No one is taking a 7mm vessel.

Harmonic is a great device and I would rather sell that over Enseal on any given day. However, once reprocessing took a hold and Enseal was acquired, Enseal was the only way for me to hit my number.

If you sold energy you would know it is not just about taking 7mm vessels....it is about being able to reliably sealing smaller vessels (which harmonic rarely does). I love watching docs use harmonic on a sleeve and have a ton of oozing and bleeding...it makes it that much easier to convert them to Thunderbeat which is fast and dry every time!

Also, plenty of surgeons take the IMA with ligasure and Thunderbeat....not so much the case with harmonic! You keep telling yourself that vessel sealing doesn't matter!!!!!

I keep hearing about this device but your local rep's attempts at trials have failed miserably.

This board is funny. There is no need to combine anything. If you combine the devices, then you only sell one device into the case. If you are President's Club material, you open at least one Enseal and one Harm-on-it per case. Use the Harm for dissection and the Enseal for vessels. See? President's Club babay. Didn't Mort train you guys properly?

I got a great idea, open up the harmonic & enseal here at list price- The hospital won't care.
Not sure what hospitals you work, but those days of opening up multiple devices at a time are over. Maybe the ma and pa hospitals in the middle of know where may let you do it. You know, the hospitals who don't have any hospital committees, vendor programs, and still have a pay phone booth that still takes a dime for a phone call, in the hospital lobby. I am sure you can sell them on opening up 2 similar devices for a procedure is the standard now.

As long as they are reprocessed sugar.

Yes they are. No one will take a 7 mm vessel with any remake of harmonic. Thunderbeat are changing surgeons views on vessel sealing with a ultrasonic device.
