When will Lilly decide on stock split ?

Lilly retiree here. Back in the mid-90s, it was popular to announce a stock split. For a two for one split, this results in doubling the shares, but reduces the stock price by 50%. Lilly announced two for one split in Nov '95 and another two for one split in Oct '97. Both announcements were made when the stock was trading in the high 90s or just past $100.

I retired almost 10 years ago when Lilly stock price was around $69 / share. Am so glad I held onto stock when many so called experts suggested diversification. So now that the stock has soared past $800, when will Lilly announce a split? When it hit $800, it would be easy to announce a 4 for one split. Perhaps they are holding off until it reaches $1,000?

There is no reason for them to split. The only benefit in splitting stock is to raise more cash when cash is short. There is no shortage of cash at the company, so no reason to split.
