Anyone noticed a difference? More busy work, more fire drills, more demanding, more micromanagement? God help you if you actually need to take a sick day, personal day, or have weather.

Simple. If people are worried about getting laid off they do not work as hard. In order to make sure people are working management has to create more work (busy work) to monitor whether people are working or not.

Fire drills are just ways to get unmotivated people to work harder. Even if the task that needs to be done really is just routine non-critical work you say it is a crisis in order to make the employee think that if it does not get done they will lose their job.

In this type of environment it takes a toll on the employee as simple tasks require more of their time to complete because not only do they have to complete the task they have to write an email saying that they completed the task, include the task in a report, have many meetings with management confirming that the task was completed, and then write up a powerpoint presentation to present to upper management details on what was the task, when was it completed etc. It can take literally three or four times the amount of time needed to complete even simple tasks when paranoid management is worried that everyone is starting to dog it because they feel that why does it matter if no matter what they do they will get laid off in the next round of layoffs.

Oh please! You get sick days, floating holidays, vacation days & weather days...why are you stirring the pot over such menial little things? Don't you have anything better to do? Seriously-quit whining. Most companies do require you to attend in order to receive your check. If you weren't before, maybe that was part of B + L's problem.

Please leave Pharma Cafe to the employees. This poster is obviously describing something that is beyond the norm for the company. Your constant posting of calling every poster either lazy or a disgruntled laid off employee is getting really really old.

And those of us who go to work and work hard while we are there get tired of the whining and complaining. Tired of people taking off all the time and not using their days off to do it. The rest of us have to pull their weight.
I am an employee and have as much right to post here as anyone else. But i have not posted in a very long time. It was not about laziness when I did, so get off your throne-it is just a shitter.

Not using their time? I'm not talking about faking a sick day. Talking about risking safety by being out in horrible weather, or dangerous cold? Being told the foot or so of snow, arctic temps, and pileup accidents are not a reason to stay home? Yes I'm with you there are many people that take advantage, but I'm talking about genuine reasons and issues of personal safety. Those of us who watch as others take these days off but are told we can't?

Not buying this. Never heard of any boss or regional boss telling people to go out in unsafe weather. You get weather days for this. I just took THREE in a row.

Seriously? You must live in Florida or some other state that never gets snow or freezing temps.

True, the only people who might need them. Original poster was whining that they might have a weather issue and need to be off work. If its someone in the south, you get weather days for ice & snow. If you are hit by a flood or tornado you get a wether pass. I think you are just a slacker who wants any reason to get out of work. We all get vacation, holidays, personal days, sick days and i think we get a couple of floating holidays. And, hey! Possibly get the week after Christmas free!

Be grateful or be gone!

Sales doesn't get that week off...

Just my thoughts but the slacker sounds like the guy who just took THREE days off in a row, not the one who is out there actually working and not taking the time off. I'm sure someone will yell and tell me I'm the slacker now.

Do you honestly not know what a "weather" day is?

This is not true. If it is unsafe you are not expected to travel. You just want to complain, or take off when it is not bad enough to warrant being off...or both.

Not everyone here is in sales. The manufacturing sites very rarely allow time off for weather. As in, maybe once in the last ten years and not once during all the polar vortex shit we had.

Seriously?! Dumbass...it's called a lawsuit!
