What will it take?

What will it take for Merck to turn around or at least stabilize? Is it a new drug or 3? An economic recovery? A new regulation or politician? Or are we just playing a game of musical chairs to figure out who gets to turn the lights off?

I'm talking about a time when Merck stops worrying about what it would take for us to leave and our friends start asking what it would take to get in. Where our leaders step up to challenges rather than hide behind them as reasons for further cuts and changes. Where we aspire to grow, develop and contribute, not just hang on.

I can't say i was here for Merck's glory days, but i was hear for good days back in the late 90's. It all changed around 2002 with the first round of layoffs I witnessed, equinox. Back then, "Merck never lays anyone off!" was commonly repeated. Oh how the times have changed....

I'll tell you what it won't take. A new regulation. Obamacare and regulations are killing us and the rest of the industry. Until these things change it's game over for Big Pharma reps.
