WHAT?? WE DON'T GET JULY 5TH OFF?

At PSS, we don't need holidays. If it weren't federally mandated PSS would like us to work on every single holiday. But that's totally fine by most of us. We could use all the $$$ we can possibly make. After all, what better motivation is there to work than a paycheck? The OP is a loser.

Basically if you are not in the field PSS doesn't get paid. Even though everyone knows it will be a worthless day of closed offices or offices running on short staffs and not seeing reps. Make the paper work look good and have a happy holiday.

It's sad we have to resort to that. The company should just do the right thing and let us have the 5th off. But, if that's what we have to do, then we will do it.

To those freshmen and women new to the game. There is nothing you can do about a office that is closed or a office that doesn't need any samples so it's a detail only. Paid by the number of calls you make is correct. No extra money for more than expected average and a red flag if you have less. Yes lucky to have a job. Unlucky to think that this is the best job you could find. No such thing as a sucessful contract rep only someone who got lucky that the numbers tumbled their way. I would rather use my luck on something else like the lottery or something that doesn't require skill. Contract is more of a partime job or a hobby for those that want to get out of the house these days. A career or a steady paycheck it is not. December will be here before you know it and the ride will come to a screeching halt. Take the day or maybe even the week. As long as number of calls per day is met week after week that's all they are looking for. Knew a rep that never made a call the entire year and remained on top as a true performer. Yes his computer said he made 8 calls a day and his mananger would only meet with him for breakfast before calling it a day on the field ride. To say that you sell something would be correct in this business these days. It's not the drugs you promote or sell, but the ability to determine right from wrong.

If you think Publicis gives 2 shits about morale, you're nuts! They could easily give us an extra day, but that's not their style, which is classless. Yes, most offices will be closed all day or at least a half-day, but it doesn't matter. You are temporary help at best. The sooner you recognize that the better. Your time will soon be up.
